Unemployment in Pushmataha County improved in October from September figures, though more slowly than in previous months, while all but six of the stateâs 77 counties saw increases in the unemployment rate.
With the New Year just around the corner and resolutions being made, I wanted to urge you to make one that is worthwhile this year. Instead of the typical resolutions (like to loose weight or to stop smoking or drinking, not that those are not important but they usually donât last past January), I would like you to think about making the resolution to help stop bullying.
Have you always wanted to make a difference in your community, but didn't know where to start? All around Oklahoma, women are finding that a crown can serve as a "megaphone" to promote a cause or issue. The Mrs. International Pageant System recognizes married women for their accomplishments, commitment to marriage and their desire to make a difference in their communities. We showcase these women and applaud their efforts, not only to challenge themselves, but to make the world a better place.

Recently AT&T Oklahoma gave an amazing gift to members of the Oklahoma National Guardâs 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) who are deployed overseas to Afghanistan and Kuwait. AT&T has donating 3,600 calling cards so members of the Guard who are serving in Afghanistan and Kuwait can call home to visit with family and friends. Governor Fallin joined AT&T representatives and members of the military at a ceremony to present the cards.

During the last part of the week before the holiday weekend, the Pushmataha County Court was busy dealing with numerous bogus check cases.  These cases varied in price and location but it seemed that two locations were hit the hardest, Pruettâs Food in Antlers and the Clayton Country Store in Clayton. Those two locations alone got hit for over $500.00.
Charlotte Hull, of Idabel, obtained merchandise by means of a bogus check in Antlers at Pruettâs Foods. Hullâs Check was for the amount of $244.48. Hull failed to appear in court and an arrest warrant was issued for her.
Dennis & Mary Clark, owners of "TA Farms LLC", are top quality Hay producers who made their way to SE Oklahoma from Bedford, Iowa last week after being made aware of the area's desperate need of affordable and high quality hay. After hearing this news, Mr. Clark started up his Semi to bring hay to people and their animals in need, just in time for Christmas! A total of 18 people, and their livestock, benefited and as everyone stated it was the best hay they have seen and the price was even better.

'Twas the Night before Christmas' or 'A Visit from St. Nicholas'
"Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads.
And mamma in her âkerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winterâs nap.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
In November Jerry Linn of Antlers participated in the Special Olympics Competition with his horse Suba where they proudly brought home the Silver Medal. Linn participated with approximately 200 other special needs children. Linn is a student at Antlers Public School and competed in trails, poles and barrels.
Linn put in a total of eight weeks of practice in Caddo to prepare for the Special Olympics. Jerry Linn is the son of John Linn of Antlers, brother of Tara Lowmore and uncle of Tuck Lowmore.
