On Wednesday, March 30, 2011 the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation spent the day cleaning up and repairing the Kiamichi Bridge Park on HWY. 271 just outside of Antlers.
The ODWC owns approximately three acres of land at this location and it is open to the public as a park, complete with a swinging bridge, picnic tables, restrooms and a boat ramp leading into the Kiamichi River.
A site in Pushmataha County has been selected by CRU (Clean Renewable Utility) Energy Corporation as a possible location for the construction of a 1-Megawatt power plant.
Clayton Councilman, Dan Nix, has been coordinating with CRU to survey local conditions that would be appropriate for one of the several plants that are going to be constructed across Texas and Oklahoma.
Thirty-one members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club competed in a team bass tournament on April 2, 2011 at Sardis Lake. The tournament began at "safe light" with temperatures in the low 40âs and ended at 4:00 p.m. with temperatures in the low 80âs. Catching a keeper proved to be difficult as half of the anglers were unable to bring a keeper bass to the final weigh-in. Those who were able to find some "keeper" bass were able to put together some nice stringer weights.
On Friday and Saturday, April 1st & 2nd, many residents and nonresidents alike turned out for the 2nd Annual Southeast Oklahoma Yard & Garden Expo put on by OSU Extension Services in Antlers.
U.S. Congressman Dan Boren met with General Ann E. Dunwoody, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), recently in his Washington D.C. office. AMC is one of the largest commands in the Army with more than 66,000 employees and an impact or presence in 48 states and 127 countries.
AMC is the Army command that oversees the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (McAAP) in eastern Oklahoma. Congressman Boren also currently serves as the Democrat Co-Chair for the Military Depot and Industrial Facilities Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.

It was announced today that Governor Mary Fallin has signed a bill into law that authorizes the Department of Human Services to release a âMost Wantedâ list of delinquent or missing parents who owe back child support. Senate Bill 576 creates a new tool for DHS to find these parents when traditional means have been exhausted. The âMost Wantedâ lists may include a delinquent parentâs name, photograph, last known address and amount of child support owed.
The Rattan Rams Baseball Team, coached by Ryan Cordell, has been having a good season as they are going into their away game against Roff on April 8 with a overall record for this season of 13-6-0.
The Rams most recent game was against the Caney Cougars on March 31 in a tournament play at the Rock Creek Tournament. The Rams came out on top with a final score of 2-1.
