Bertha Mae Wren was born May 2, 1926 in Daisy to Millard “Froggy” & Ethel (Morris) Morrison. She passed from this life January 23, 2012 in Scurry, TX at the age of 85. Bertha Mae married Roy Otis Wren in Paris, TX in 1946. She had many friends and loved ones in the Finley community, in which she was raised. Bertha Mae was preceded in death by her parents: Froggy & Ethel Morrison; husband: Roy Otis Wren; daughter: Judy L. Wren; a grandson: Jason G. Wren; and her siblings: Raymond R.
Dovie Mae Cash was born August 6, 1912 in Dela to James Albert and Belle (Potts) Robertson. She passed from this life January 19, 2012 in Antlers at the age of 99. Dovie married William Kermit Cash on December 24, 1928 in Antlers. She was a homemaker and lived in this area most of her life. She enjoyed cooking, dancing and she loved to waltz.
Richard David Williams, Jr. was born November 16, 1964 in Antlers to Richard and Corrine (Sutterfield) Williams. He passed from this life January 22, 2012 in Antlers at the age of 47. David had spent his entire life in Antlers, working as a self-employed logger. He was a beloved son, father, brother, and husband. David was an avid hunter and also loved camping and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. David is preceded in death by his father: Richard David Williams, Sr.

Everyone has the right to feel safe in their community, on their school campus or at work. If you see someone being bullied, know that you have the power to stop it. It isn’t always easy to stand up against the crowd, but that it is what it will to take to put a stop to bullying. In my previous articles we have covered that bullying is still an issue and the forms and signs of bullying. In this week’s article we will go over what to do if someone is being bulled and some of the lasting effects it could have.
In light of our upcoming celebrations for the 2011-2012 Homecoming: Basketball through the Ages, our athletic department would like to recognize Mrs. Mary Etta Bollier for her hard work, dedication, and encouragement to our school. Moyers’ very own sweetheart, Mary Etta, has established deep roots in this mountain community and continues to invest in a school system that raised her just years before. She was a basketball star in her day, playing on a team that won 30 out of 33 games her sophomore year.
The Moyers Tigers spent the last week at the annual Coleman tourney. Up first for the Lady Tigers would be the Caney Cougars. The Ladies took to the court with desire but couldn’t convert and fell behind 24-5 at the half. The Ladies recouped at half and came back out much more impressive scoring immediately and at the end of three it was 40-11. Caney had a tough inside game and the Lady Tigers battled hard. The much improved Lady Tigers showed good passing skills and moved the ball well, but fell short of their goal 49-13.Â
On February 8th, 2012 Ronald D. Devin, of Antlers, will enter a plea of guilty to the murder of William Riley Seale, who was found deceased in his residents.
Devin will be found guilty of 2nd Degree Murder and be sentenced with 37 years imprisonment. Devin accepted this deal after law enforcement visited with the victims family and they agreed to the terms and wished to avoid going to trial.
A collision that occurred in the early morning hours on Sunday, January 22, 2012 3.4 miles north of Antlers on HWY 271 claimed the life of Richard Williams, a 47 year old male from Antlers.
Williams was traveling northbound on HWY 271 on a 2008 Chevy, when he entered a right curve, the vehicle departed the roadway to the left and made impact with a culvert embankment, causing the vehicle to go airborne and overturn 1 full time before coming to rest.
The Howard McLeod Correctional Center, near Farris, is the most recent facility to receive books donated by Southeastern Public Library System of Oklahoma (SEPLSO). On Friday January 13th, Lila Swink, head librarian of the Hugo Library and Margie Jump, head librarian of the Coalgate Library along with Nick White, SEPLSO’s Information Technology support, were on hand to transfer over 1,000 books to the correctional center.
Correctional centers in Idabel, Hodgens and McAlester previously received books. The most recent donation brings the total number of donated books to over 3,000.

Dora Marie Self was born September 26, 1921 in Cloudy to Claude and Clara (Harper) Goheen. She passed from this life January 13, 2012 in Baytown, TX, at the age of 90. Dora married John C. Self September 25, 1947 in Paris, TX. She loved tending to her cows, gardening and spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dora was preceded in death by her parents: Claude & Clara Goheen; husband: John C. Self; grandson: Paul Self; brothers: Lewis Goheen and Bud Goheen; sisters: Mildred Goheen and Faye Thurman.
