Escapes from the Arkansas Department of Correctionâ€™s Mississippi County Work Release Center in Luxora, AR., may be in the Fort Smith-Southeast Oklahoma area.
John Laxton, 42, and Danny Rankins, 46, were working at two separate job sites in Blytheville, AR., and are believed to have left with a woman driving a green Kia. When an ADC officer went to pick them up the evening of July 18, they were not at their jobs sites at approximately 8 oâ€™clock.
The three may have split up.
Pushmataha County 4-H hosted a cupcake decorating class on Tuesday, July 17th, 2012. 4-H members Kimberly Alford and Michelle Hedgecock cooked up an extra batch of cupcakes and shared them with the inmates at the Pushmataha County jail. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Tommy Allen was patrolling near EZ Mart in Antlers when he noticed two females in a hurry leaving the store on foot. When he made contact with the females, Rebecca V. Farley told the officer that she let some guy drive her vehicle to take a cat down the road. Allen stated that it seemed odd to him that someone would let another person drive their vehicle and leave them at a store in a town that they didnâ€™t live in.
The dog days have arrived.
As the month of June closed with a surge in temperatures, the trend continued into July, with Pushmataha County checking in above 100 degrees for the first time on Friday, after several days of near 100-degree highs.
Fridayâ€™s temperature of 103 degrees was the hottest day of the year, so far, according to the Oklahoma Mesonet. Saturday, Antlers reported a high temperature of 101 degrees, with a high on Sunday of Sunday of 97 degrees.
Antlers received a sales tax disbursement of $93,568 in June, an increase over the $90,017 received in June of last year.
Clayton received a sales tax disbursement of $23,463 last month, an increase over the $22,313 received in June of last year.
Rattan received $3,660 in sales tax last month, an increase over the $2,054 received in June of 2011.
Pushmataha County received $100,817 in county sales tax last month, down from the $111,305 received in June of last year.
