Bearcats take 3rd at Ameristate Invitational

Last week our Bearcats traveled to Tushka to play in the Ameristate Invitational Tournament. In the first round they were paired against the Stringtown Tigers, whose record coming into the tournament was 2-6. Tip-off was won by Sr. Bryce Martin, who even though he suffered an accidental blow to the nose, which shattered the bones, he still played the rest of the game, and was the leading scorer for the game with 24 points. Sr. Harlan House was the biggest contributor to the first half of the game with 10 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Jr.

Lady Cats Take Tushka Tournament

The Antlers Lady Cats traveled to Tushka for the Ameristate Basketball Tournament this last weekend. The Lady Cats faced three opponents to come away with the championship trophy and All Tournament Team honors. The Lady Cat’s first opponent was the Moyers Lady Tigers.

Lady Cats defeat the Lady Rams and move to 8-1

The Antlers Lady Cats traveled to Rattan to take on the Lady Rams last Thursday. The gym was packed to capacity, with standing room only.

At the end of the first period, the score was tied at 2-2. Both teams played great defense and at the end of the second period, the score was still tight with the Lady Cats leading by only 2, with a score of 15 to 13.

Lady Cats Take Talihina Tournament With a 5-0 Record

The Antlers Lady Cats traveled to Talihina for the Choctaw Nation Invitational Basketball Tournament this last weekend. The Lady Cats faced three tough opponents to come away with the championship trophy and All Tournament Team honors. The Lady Cat’s first opponent was The Sallisaw Black Diamonds. The Lady Cats prevailed over the Lady Diamonds with a final score of 51 to 40, advancing them to the semi final game.

Push. Historical Society receives Congressional recognition

Last week Myrtle Edmond, Madge Gentry and the Pushmataha Historical Society received a rather surprising gift in the mail from Hon. Elton Gallegly, Congressman from California and former Antlers resident.

Three plaques commemorating the Historical Society’s hard work and dedication, which specifically mentioned Myrtle Edmond and Madge Gentry for the passion and professionalism they showed when the Congressman visited the Historical Society, with the speech that the Congressman gave in front of the House of Representatives on December 31, 2012 in the second session of the 112th Congress.

Attempted stabbing ends in arrest

The Antlers Police Department Office Wyatt Williams responded to an assault call at Chilango’s Mexican Restaurant in Antlers after Julio Ceasar Castillo Andres, of Hugo, tried to stab a restaurant employee.

According to the police report, on January 12, 2013 at about 1:30 p.m., Andres came in the back door of the restaurant mad and pulled a knife from his waistband. After doing so he went after Jose Rojas and tried to stab him. According to Rojas, he tried to run around the kitchen to get away from Andres , going as far as moving a plate cart between them.

DPS warns about traffic offenses that will lead to DL revocation

(Oklahoma City, OK.) - The Department of Public Safety is warning traffic law violators of new restrictions concerning traffic laws.

House Bill 1507, which was signed by Governor Fallin on May 18th, 2011, took effect November 1st, 2011. It calls for a mandatory one year drivers license revocation for any licensee convicted of the following traffic offenses:

1. Reckless driving without regard to the safety of others.

2. Failure to stop for a school bus loading or unloading children.

NRA makes statement regarding White House Task Force Meeting

The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.
