Kay Elaine Schweining

Kay Elaine Schweining passed away Thursday evening, March 7, 2013 at the age of 75. Beloved daughter of Milton and Mollie Schweining, Kay was born January 1, 1938 and the 1st baby born in the New Year. Kay is survived by her brother: Barry (Butch) Schweining of Falcon CO, two children: Warren Decker of Pagosa Springs, CO, and Ronna Decker of Nacogdoches, TX; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Kay will be remembered for her love of the Lord, her humor, and how she loved to quilt. Kay never met a stranger and was always one to help out anyone in need.

Elementary dancers go to Dallas

Recently three Antlers Elementary School students participated in the Dallas Mavericks Dancers Dance Camp in Dallas, TX. The girls learned dances which were performed as a camp finale.

Antlers 7th grader takes State

Kaden Shetter, 7th Grader at Obuch Middle School won the State weightlifting Championship for his weight class.

Dustin Morehead, 8th Grader at Obuch Middle School was State Runner-Up for State in his weight class.

9 to compete for Miss RHS

The 22nd annual Miss Rattan High School Scholarship Pageant will be held on March 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rattan Gymnasium. Nine beautiful and very talented young women will be competing for the coveted crown of Miss RHS and over $10,000.00 in scholarships and prizes.

Miss RHS 2012 Stepheney Haddox and the 2013 contestants will open the show by dancing to this years hit, ‘Gangnam Style’. Contestants will then be judged on interview, introduction, talent and evening gown.

The man who reported his car stolen, Geary Dial, informed the authorities when he reported the vehicle stolen that the man, Russell Doctor, may have a gun with him in the vehicle.

Pushmataha County Sheriff’s department sent a teletype to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to be on the lookout for the Ford Escort and the dispatcher, Linda Houston, sent a message to the local units by mobile cop.

Head-on collision injures three

A Mustang, being driven by Anna Boyd, a 54 year-old female from Boswell, was parked facing south on the west shoulder when they pulled onto the roadway and crossed the center line.

Ashli Boler, a 21 year old female from Antlers, was heading north on HWY 271, a little over a mile north of HWY 70, when here Suburban was hit head-on by the Mustang. Boler’s vehicle rolled, about 1/4 turn, and came to rest on the passenger side.
