Roger Wayne “Bug Eye” Breshears was born June 5, 1955 in Antlers, to Jess and Marie (Smith) Breshears. He passed from this life March 30, 2013 in Longview, TX, at the age of 57. Roger worked as a log hauler for many years and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Roger was preceded in death by his parents: Jess & Marie Breshears; and brothers: Ivan "Bud" Breshears, Frank Breshears, and Raymond "PeeWee" Breshears.

The City of Antlers would like to announce that the opening day for the Antlers City Pool will be Friday, May 31, 2013. The pool will be open 6 days a week, Monday - Saturday, and the hours of operation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Lifeguards will be on duty at all times. Each lifeguard is Red Cross Certified in lifesaving CPR.
Admission will be $3.00 per person per day. Please Note: All infants and children in diapers must wear Little Swimmer Diapers. No Exceptions!

The North and South team split the basketball games during Eastern Oklahoma State College’s 41st annual Kiamichi All-Star Classic on May26 in Wilburton.
The South girls’ basketball team pulled off a close 69-67 victory over the North team in the first game of the night. Miranda Schaefer of Wright City was named the South MVP for her 16 points and Katie Smith of Checotah was named the North MVP for her 15 points.

During the Monday, May 27th, meeting of the Pushmataha County Commissioners, the Commissioners, Michael A. Brittingham, Jimmy Long, and Jerry Duncan; signed an Emergency Disaster Proclamation for Pushmataha County.
This proclamation will allow the county to request assistance from FEMA to help our county recover from costs due to the flooding, high winds and power outages that hit our county last week and caused considerable damage to public and private properties.

Severe storms will initiate near dryline out west this afternoon... eventually organizing into one or more clusters as they move into eastern OK. Damaging winds...large hail and an isolated tornado are possible with these storms late today into the evening from roughly highway 75 westward.

On May 11, 2013, a 1 or 2 year old female child was found standing next to a passed out male driver trying to wake him up.
Deputy Darrell Nichols was on patrol in Pushmataha County heading south on Gilly Road, coming up to HWY 271 North, when he found a green vehicle parked in the middle of the intersection with the motor running and headlights on. As Nichols approached the vehicle the first thing he saw was a white male passed out behind the wheel with his feet on the clutch and break petals. Standing next to the man was a 1 or 2 year old female child trying to wake him up.
The Antlers High School Graduating Class of 2013 will walk across the stage at 8:00 p.m. tonight in the Antlers Gym.
Congratulations to all of the graduates! You have worked so hard and we are all very proud of you! Keep up the hard work and you will go far!
Letters were mailed on Monday and Tuesday (May 20/21) to residents and businesses in the Darwin and Moyers Fire Department response area. Residents who live in these two fire departments who do not receive a letter by Tuesday, May 28th, should call SDR at 800-238-1911. Spatial Data Research (SDR), was contracted by Pushmataha County to complete the 9-1-1 Mapping and Addressing Project.
The next fire departments to be notified are Antlers, Rattan and Sobol.

Over the weekend a woman filed an assault report with the Clayton Police Department.
Officer Randall S. McGillvary was called to the P.D. to take the report.
When he arrived at the office, Skye Griffith told him that she wanted to make a report against her former roommate, Marissa Marris.
Griffith said that they were at Marissa’s father’s house when Marissa yelled at one of her (Griffith) children. Griffith stated that when she told Marris that there was no reason to take it out on the children Marris came at her from across the room, punching her in the head and face.
