Pushmataha Co. woman arrested on 7 counts of child neglect

A Pushmataha County woman has been arrested on seven counts of child neglect according to a press release that the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation released on Friday.
According to the OSBI, agents were called in to help the Pushmataha County Sheriff's Office investigate allegations of child neglect in July. During the investigation, agents discovered 34-year-old Sonia Kubisak was living in tents with her seven children ranging in age from 7 to 17 years.
OSBI says the neglect was discovered when the children were assessed by a local nurse practitioner.

Drugs found disguised as Christmas presents

The Atoka County Sheriff's office unwrapped a trunk full of Christmas presents last week and found over $100,000 worth of marijuana.
A Sheriff's deputy says he spotted a car driving on the shoulder of the road and pulled it over. He found two women, two children and a trunk full of Christmas presents.
The adults in the car were Stephanie Renee Roboedo and Blanca Moya.
When the arresting officer suspected something wasn't right, he called over his trusted K-9, Morgan, who located the marijuana in the back of the car - disguised as Christmas presents.

Choctaw Electric Co-op members file petition to oust board of trustees

Citizens for Honesty, Openness and Accountability, with members from throughout the Southeast Oklahoma area, filed 2,700 signatures of Choctaw Electric Cooperative (“CEC”) members on Friday, December 12th,calling for the ouster of the entire Board of Trustees at CEC and asking that new elections be held within 45 days.

Local girls compete in Atoka gymnastics meet

Three Pushmataha County girls competed in a gymnastics meet December 6 at Big C.A.T.S. Gymnastics & Tumbling in Atoka.

This competition required the girls to memorize and perform routines on the bar, balance beam, floor and vault. Ninety-six gymnasts from Big C.A.T.S., Kippers Gymnastic Club in Ardmore and Ovations Studio in Sapulpa competed.

Local arrested for hospital stabbing in Oklahoma City

Three nurses and a security guard are recovering after an alleged knife attack in the emergency room of Deaconess Hospital.
According to police, Keith Bain, of Valliant, walked in the ER complaining of chest pains and he allegedly started to violently assault four workers, which included stabbed a security guard in the neck.

Antlers' Sonic is under construction

By now, many residents have noticed some construction taking place at the Antlers location of Sonic Drive-In.
According to the location, all of the concrete had became cracked and corroded so it is now being replaced. So no more potholes at Sonic! Also, while the concrete is up, lines are being laid so digital menu housings can be installed.
This weekend, for the convenience of their customers, they hope to have all the stalls back open to better serve residents.
