The robbery of a bank in Wright City, OK, McCurtain County, ended badly on Thursday afternoon, June 16, 2011 just outside of Rattan.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was on the scene of the shooting incident along State Highway 3.
OHP Troopers set up a roadblock near the location, west of Rattan. A short time after the initial alert, authorities witnessed the suspect vehicle and attempted to effect a traffic stop. Suspect vehicle
fled from Trooper(s), failed to stop for the roadblock and shots were fired.
I suspected that when summer arrived that it would arrive all of a sudden and with a vengeance. Sure enough it has been almost August like i the weather department here lately.
I recommend playing golf in the morning if a person can. The mornings have been nice. Of course that is when we do most of the course work but I figure we could watch out for each other.

Willard Russell Haag was born March 7, 1913 in Berea, OH to William C. and Hulda (Quell) Haag. He passed from this life June 13, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 98. Willard married Christine Greene Haag on November 8, 1940. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1942-1946. Willard enjoyed spending time with his family & friends. Willard was preceded in death by his wife: Christine Adele Haag; and his parents: William & Hulda Haag.
Larry Wayne Ellison was born April 14, 1950 in Antlers to Oscar and Emily (White) Ellison. He passed from this life June 8, 2011 in Dallas, TX., at the age of 61. Larry served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Carol Waller March 9, 1985 in Grand Prarie, TX., and together they raised two children. Larry was of the baptist faith and attended the First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, playing at the casino, and spending time with his boys, family and friends.
Larry C. Cole was born April 27, 1953 in Antlers to Henry Charles and Trummie Nora (Dunlap) Cole. He passed from this life June 7, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 58. Larry enjoyed fishing, watching chickens, horses, his beagle "Sadie" & most of all, taking care of his grandkids. Larry was preceded in death by his parents: Henry & Trummie Cole; brothers: R.C. Cole, Marvin Cole, & Willard Cole; sisters: Velvie Bates & Thelma White.
Hazel Mae Cockrill was born November 6, 1942 in Antlers to Eugene Ace & Mary Lois (Smith) Duncan. She passed from this life June 10, 2011 in Springdale, AR., at the age of 68. Hazel had lived in the Antlers area for all of her life until she joined her daughter in Arkansas just one short month ago. She enjoyed fishing, crafts, & shelling pecans to sell. She had a funny personality and enjoyed playing tricks & jokes on people. Hazel loved children in general, but was especially in love with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
Wanda Jean Barnett Horton was born September 24, 1936 in Walls to Oscar and Maggie (Montgomery) Derryberry. She passed from this life June 11, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 74. Jean had lived in this area for 65 years and was a member of the Assebly of God Church in LeFlore County. Jean was a true red head, but a very loving mother. She often did without so her children could have things. Her favorite saying was "What you see is what you get". Jean's grandkids were the apple of her eye and she enjoyed spending time with them as well as other family and friends.
This year's theme for the Miss Pushmataha County Homecoming Pageant was "Big City Lights." The pageant was held June 3, 2011 at the Antlers High School Auditorium. The Auditorium was filled with family and friends that came out to show these young ladies their support.
15 Contestants competed in the pageant and your 2011-2012 Miss Pushmataha County Homecoming Queen is Sadie Wheaton. The Pageant also featured drawings and giveaways for Prizes, for the contestants and for the people in the audience.
