At the end of what seemed like a never ending battle to see who was going to be named to the Rattan School Board, Candidate Loyd Deaton once again took the majority of votes in the Tuesday, May 10, 2011 Re-Election. The final, but unofficial, vote totals were Loyd Deaton - 463 to Valerie Clay Merida - 433, a possible win of 30 votes. Totals will become official if nothing filed by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011.
On Friday night, May 6, 2011 residents of Pushmataha County gathered together at the 2011 American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Pushmataha County at the Antlers Bearcats Football Stadium. This years Relay held a much different ambiance as it felt much less chaotic than the previous years and it returned once again to the great outdoors where it belongs.
On Friday, May 6, 2011 the new acting Mayor of Antlers, Mike Burrage, did his first official task in this position. Mayor Burrage declared the week of May 9th to May 15th to be Hospital Week in Antlers, to correlate with National Hospital Week that runs during the same week.
