Many were saddened when we lost our long time superintendent of schools Mark Virden last year but now it is time to look forward to a new school year and new leader. Cary Ammons was named the new Antlers Public Schools Superintendent.
During the week of July 26th â 29th the Passport to the Future Mentoring Program hosted Art Camp 2011.Â The mentoring staff of Pushmataha & Choctaw County choses 5 mentees from each county and invited them to come and learn about drawing, sculpting, painting, photography & scrapbooking.Â We were amazed at the gift they all had.
Governor Mary Fallin has expanded the ban on outdoor burning to all of Oklahomaâs 77 counties. The Executive Proclamation expands the 45-county burn ban that was put in place on July 14, as the extreme to excessive drought conditions continue to worsen.
âWe have just experienced the hottest July on record,â Fallin said. âThe predictions of unrelenting extreme heat with no relief in sight make the statewide burn ban necessary.â
