Many were saddened when we lost our long time superintendent of schools Mark Virden last year but now it is time to look forward to a new school year and new leader. Cary Ammons was named the new Antlers Public Schools Superintendent.
During the week of July 26th â€“ 29th the Passport to the Future Mentoring Program hosted Art Camp 2011.Â The mentoring staff of Pushmataha & Choctaw County choses 5 mentees from each county and invited them to come and learn about drawing, sculpting, painting, photography & scrapbooking.Â We were amazed at the gift they all had.
Governor Mary Fallin has expanded the ban on outdoor burning to all of Oklahomaâ€™s 77 counties. The Executive Proclamation expands the 45-county burn ban that was put in place on July 14, as the extreme to excessive drought conditions continue to worsen.
â€śWe have just experienced the hottest July on record,â€ť Fallin said. â€śThe predictions of unrelenting extreme heat with no relief in sight make the statewide burn ban necessary.â€ť
