It is once again time for the Choctaw Nationâ€™s Annual Labor Day Festival and Pow Wow at Tushka Homma, September 1st through September 5th. Â The festival offers many activities that will appeal to all age groups and personalities.
The festival begins on Thursday, September 1st, with the Choctaw Nation Princess Pageant at 7:00 p.m. in the amphitheater.Â The winners of this pageant will go on to compete for the title of Little Miss, Junior Miss, or Miss Choctaw Nation.Â Â
The Eastern Oklahoma Region of the American Red Cross recently held their first Regional Volunteer Recognition Cerimony. This ceremony was to honor the volunteers through the entire Eastern Oklahoma Region, which included over 30 counties.
Local volunteer Donna Willison Head, was honored with receiving the â€śSoutheastern Oklahoma Chapter Administrative Volunteer of the Year Award 2011â€ť for her contribution at the chapter level in McAlester.
The Antlers Fire Department hosted a multi-agency training event at the Pushmataha County Fair Grounds on Monday, August 29. The training began at 7:00 p.m. at the Antlers Fire Department Training Center.
This training was scheduled to provide basic knowledge and instructions on how to successfully draft water from a static water source and move it to a different location.
