Bullying takes on many forms

As the second article in my Anti-Bulling series i would like to focus on the main points of bullying and the signs to look for if your child is being bullied or is a bully.

Bullying has been focused into three main points. These points are: Imbalance of Power, Intent to Cause Harm and Repetition.

Judge Driesel remembered after passing

On Thursday, December 29, 2011 many residents of Pushmataha, Choctaw and McCurtain Counties were saddened to hear of the death of District Judge Willard Driesel. Driesel, 58, passed away after a lengthy battle with several health issues, including cancer, in Tyler, TX on December 11, 2011. Judge Driesel will be remembered by many as a fair and professional administrator to the courts and to many as a true and loyal friend.

At his request, he was cremated. A memorial service took place on Monday, January 2, 2012 in Broken Bow.

Pushmataha Hospital to host Blood Drive

Pushmataha Hospital is starting off the new year by saving lives through blood donation with Oklahoma Blood Institute (OBI). All healthy adults, 16 and older,* are encouraged to donate blood from Noon to 6 p.m., on Tuesday, January 17, at Antlers Library on 104 S.E. 2nd Street.  Blood donors at the Pushmataha Hospital blood drive will receive an OBI ice scraper and free health screenings.
 

One arrested over New Year’s weekend

Over the holiday weekend only one individual was taken to jail in Pushmataha County by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol for driving while impaired or driving under the influence, and it wasn’t a resident of the county.

On December 30, 2011 at approximately 6:35 p.m., Trooper Tommy Allen was traveling north on HWY 271 south of Finley and a black Honda car was traveling the same direction in front of the Trooper. The vehicle was driving very slowly and was swerving from one lane line to the other.
