Darren Couch, owner of Elite Construction & Fabrication located in Antlers, was selected as the recipient of the 2012 Oklahoma Entrepreneurial Success Award.
This award is presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration and recognizes business leaders in the community who began as a small business and later developed into a larger business. Such growth equates to more jobs and an improved local economy.
Early Sunday morning, June 17, 2012, an Antlers Police officer’s personal vehicle was set on fire. The vehicle was located in the side parking area, in the alley, next to the Police Department. The Antlers Police Department is offering a $500.00 reward for information of the person or persons who set the car on fire. All Calls Will Remain Anonymous! Please call (580) 298-5513 or 298-5514.
As voters head to the polls on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 many have already made up their minds as to which candidates they are voting for, but some have not. The ballots have plenty of names to choose from with multiple candidates running for most categories.
For the local office of Pushmataha County Sheriff there are six democrat candidates running. They are: John Arthur, Dan Breshears, Terry Duncan, Keith Mack, Ryan Mitchell and Calvin Smith.
There are a total of nine candidates running for the Congressional office of U.S. Representative of District 2, which was previously held by Dan Boren.

This year's theme for the Miss Pushmataha County Homecoming Pageant was "Festival Of Colors". The pageant was held June 9, 2012 at the Antlers High School Auditorium. The Auditorium was filled with family and friends that came out to show these young ladies their support.
With the weather steadily heating up, kids being out of school and gardeners asking for rain it can only mean one thing, the 2012 Pushmataha County Homecoming is once again upon us. The community is buzzing with anticipation, wondering what will come and hoping for a grand celebration with family and friends. This year’s theme is “Push For A Good Time,” and that is exactly what we plan to do!
June 7th
At the County Commissioner’s Meeting that was held on Monday, June 4, 2012, the Commissioners named individuals to the Board for Pushmataha County’s 911 System.
The Commissioners double appointed the Ambulance Board to take the rains of the 911 Board. They feel that this was a great fit since each of the board members already knows the county well and no training was needed for the board members.
“It was a really good fit,” said Antlers Fire Chief Randy Janoe. “They all know their areas, as well as the county, and know how to operate a board successfully.”
With the growing health concerns and families and individuals wanting to live healthier life styles many are going to organic products and foods. This isn’t always easy for residents living in Southeastern Oklahoma, but things just got a little bit simpler.
The monthly meeting of the Antlers City Council was called to order at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012 in Antlers City Hall. The meeting was called to order and a quorum was established. Then the board approved the minutes for the May 7th and May 17th meetings and purchase orders for May 2012.
The board then approved the 2012-2013 City Budget,Ordinance No. 2012-04 Compensation for City Clerk/Treasurer, the Workers Compensation Plan Renewal and the 2012-2013 Center Sponsor Agreement and Budget for Senior Citizen Nutrition Center.
May 31st
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Blades, of the Pushmataha County Detachment, Antlers, was recently named Trooper of the Year at the Department of Public Safety’s 75th Anniversary banquet.
The events leading to Trooper Blade’s achievement centered on the heroic actions taken against three Wright City bank robbery suspects, which lead into a pursuit and ended with two of the suspects expiring from fatal gunshot wounds.
