Push Fest to Host More than 30 Bands to Play for Three Days on Two Stages
Rumors have been confirmed that the First Annual Pushmataha Music Festival (Push Fest) will be held in the Kiamichi Mountains in Southeastern Oklahoma on October 12th through the 14th with more than 30 bands playing on two stages. This event will take place by Nashoba (about 10 miles away from Clayton).
Putting this event together are Susan and Paul LaVictorie of Oklahoma City. Even though the couple is based in Oklahoma City, they own land in Pushmataha county and travel down here quite often.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Governor Mary Fallin today signed an executive order removing 22 counties from a statewide Governor Burn Ban that has been in place since August 3. Fifty five counties remain under a state-issued burn ban. The change in the Governor Burn Ban is due to improving wild land fire conditions and comes at the request of Oklahoma Forestry Services, a division of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
Timothy M. Rees, of Antlers, was transported to the Pushmataha Hospital after a vehicle collision on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
Rees was traveling east on HWY 3 in a 2007 GMC pulling a 2008 Prowler trailer when he slowed to make a right hand turn and a 2007 Ford that was behind him struck his trailer in the rear.
Rees suffered from internal trunk injuries. His granddaughters (and passengers), Serenity Miller, 6 months old, and Haven Miller, 3 year old, were not injured.
Three county men are facing multiple felonies after search warrants were executed on their residences in Pushmataha County.
A county man is facing multiple felonies after a search of his residence uncovered drugs and firearms.
According to information filed in district court, a search warrant was issued for the residence of David McDonald; and the residence of Troy Hughes.
September 17th
Once again it is time for the Pushmataha County Free Fair to take place. Indoor fair entries will be accepted on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and will close at 6:00 p.m.
On Thursday, September 20, 2012, all baked goods and fresh flower arrangements must be entered by 9:00 a.m. The exhibit building will be closed until after the judging is completed.
All livestock must be entered by 12:00 - noon, on Thursday, September 20, 2012.
A county man is facing a felony drug count after a pipe for smoking methamphetamine was found during a traffic stop.
Pushmataha County Sheriff's Deputy James Marzek was assisting the Oklahoma Highway Patrol with a vehicle safety check at the intersection of Buddy Renee Rd. and Post Oak Rd. on Sept. 1.
Marzek made contact with the driver of the vehicle, Alejandro Hernandez. When asked for his driver's license and insurance, Hernandez told the deputy his license was in his work truck. Marzek noticed the man seemed nervous and his eyes were bloodshot.
A county man faces drug charges after a traffic stop turned up marijuana and paraphernalia.
On August 31, at approx. 9 p.m., Deputy James Marzek, with the Pushmataha County Sheriff's Department, stopped a blue minivan at State Highway 2 and Lawson in Clayton.
During the stop, Marzek smelled alcohol and marijuana in the van and asked everyone to exit the vehicle. A passenger in the front seat, Roy Smith, had an open can of beer and a hand-rolled marijuana cigarette on the floor by his feet, according to reports filed in district court.
Burn Ban Remains in Effect Due to Continued Wildfire Danger
Governor Mary Fallin today announced that exemptions have been added to the statewide burn ban, although the Governor’s Burn Ban continues to remain in effect. The decision was made in consultation with Oklahoma Forestry Services, a division of the Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, and based on existing wildfire fuel conditions and ongoing drought.
September 6th
The story of Summer 2012 has been the record-breaking effects of West Nile Virus, a story that hits close to home with the news that an Antlers boy is among those who have contracted the illness.
Although symptoms range from mild to life-threatening, the boy suffered a milder case of the virus, according to his grandmother.
