After the winter storm hit our area many events that were scheduled to take place did not happen as planned. Santaâ€™s Workshop, that was supposed to take place Friday and Saturday, was completely canceled and at this time is not planned to be rescheduled. Other events that will not take place include: pictures with Santa, Santaâ€™s Little Helpers Christmas pageant and Rudolph bingo.
The $1000 Shop Local drawing, Christmas parade and fireworks display will be rescheduled but at this time no date has been set.
Governor Mary Fallin has declared a State of Emergency for all 77 Oklahoma counties due to the winter storm impacting the state.
Because the weather included prolonged sub-freezing temperatures, dangerous road conditions and power outages, emergency management authorities recommended issuing this declaration before the full brunt of the storm arrived.
Governor Fallin warns Oklahomans to stay off the roads if at all possible and use extreme caution if you have to drive.
In the aftermath of winter storm Cleon, residents and workers in Pushmataha County are working diligently to get our community as close to back to normal as possible.
Trees and power lines throughout the area were snapped under the weight of the ice that accumulated on them during the storm. Residents began loosing power as early as Thursday night and some still are without power at this time. Power crews are still working around the clock to get them restored.
