March 21st
Pushmataha County Sheriffâs Deputy Polly Culver with her partner K-9 Deputy Athena, and Deputy Shawn Culver with his partner K-9 Deputy Reiko were excited when they got to visit Ms. Parks 1st Grade class at Antlers Elementary.
Ms. Parks had contacted Deputy Polly Culver with the news that her class had earned a reward and they had asked if the drug dog could come visit them at school.
On the evening of March 16, 2013, a new Miss RHS was chosen after a magnificent night full of entertaining excitement!
Shari Pillow, Superintendent of Rattan School, welcomed everyone to the 22nd annual Miss RHS Scholarship Pageant. The show opened with the contestants and reigning Miss RHS 2012, Stepheney Haddox, thrilling the audience by performing a dance to âGangnam Style.â

The 22nd annual Miss Rattan High School Scholarship Pageant will be held on March 16, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Rattan Gymnasium. Nine beautiful and very talented young women will be competing for the coveted crown of Miss RHS and over $10,000.00 in scholarships and prizes.
Miss RHS 2012 Stepheney Haddox and the 2013 contestants will open the show by dancing to this years hit, âGangnam Styleâ. Contestants will then be judged on interview, introduction, talent and evening gown.

The car chase which took place the last week of February has been the topic of conversation for many weeks now. Details have finally been released.
The man who reported his car stolen, Geary Dial, informed the authorities when he reported the vehicle stolen that the man, Russell Doctor, may have a gun with him in the vehicle.
Pushmataha County Sheriffâs department sent a teletype to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to be on the lookout for the Ford Escort and the dispatcher, Linda Houston, sent a message to the local units by mobile cop.

A Mustang, being driven by Anna Boyd, a 54 year-old female from Boswell, was parked facing south on the west shoulder when they pulled onto the roadway and crossed the center line.
Ashli Boler, a 21 year old female from Antlers, was heading north on HWY 271, a little over a mile north of HWY 70, when here Suburban was hit head-on by the Mustang. Bolerâs vehicle rolled, about 1/4 turn, and came to rest on the passenger side.

This 375 lb. wild hog, that measured over five feet long and had cutters that measured 3 1/4 inches, was caught in the Moyers area on Saturday, March 2nd. Pictured are: back- Clay Clark (L to R) are: Gavin Savage, Dakota Savage, Alex Lepel, and Jack Wilson.

â20 Rural Counties to Call Homeâ
In the April/March edition of American Cowboy magazine, Pushmataha County was listed as one of the top 20 rural counties from across the west for living out oneâs cowboy dreams. Areaâs that were selected came equipped with plenty of sky, grass and remote, each which come together to form a âfine destination well worth a visit -- or relocation.â

A man is still in critical condition a week after a pursuit ended in gunfire in Pushmataha County, last week.
Investigators stayed at the scene of the shooting for six hours in Antlers.
Witnesses said that they saw a white car cornering a little close to the corner of the EZ Go and McDonald's buildings, located on the Indian Nation Turnpike in Antlers. When they looked out, they saw a trooper hit the vehicle in the back. What happened next caught many by surprise, shots were fired.
AT&T* deployed its virtual reality driving simulator at Antlers High School to highlight the dangers of distracted driving for local students and allow them to experience the dangers of texting while driving first-hand.
The AT&T âIt Can Waitâ program and the virtual reality driving was at the Antlers High School on Monday, March 4, 2013, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

In early December 2012, Dustin Whitener was found deceased in Antlers. Whitener was 26 years of age at his time of death.
After over a month of phone calls to the OSBI Headquarters in Oklahoma City, Jessica Brown, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigationâs PIO Director made a statement on Monday, âThe Antlers Police Department requested that we open this case. Although no information has been released to the public, this case is still very much still open and extremely active. A long list of interviews, evidence and statements have been collected.â
