Pride of Antlers Bearcat Band ramping up

Concert Band Contest Season is ramping up for The “Pride of Antlers” Bearcat Band. The past several week the Bearcats have competed several Contests and participated in Honor Bands with the most important one to take place next week in Konawa as they hope to pass on to State Contest again this year.

Drug ring busted in Clayton

This morning, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) and local authorities, ended a yearlong drug distribution investigation resulting in numerous Arrest Warrants throughout southeastern Oklahoma.
OBN Spokesman Mark Woodward stated that agents and officers from several departments fanned out around 7:00 this morning armed with 43 Arrest Warrants for defendants accused of selling methamphetamine and prescription drugs in Clayton and the surrounding area.
According to reports, 23 of the 43 were in custody by 10:30 this morning.

There is a new business in Antlers! Vintage Lane Flowers and Gifts is located at 408 W. Main and is proudly owned by Jarvis and Monica Nabors.
They specialize in fresh and silk floral arrangements for holidays, birthdays, get well, weddings, funerals and everything in between. They also offer one of a kind, homemade and retail gifts, home decor, candy and snack bouquets, balloons, greeting cards and so much more.
Vintage Lane is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

ELECTION RESULTS ARE IN!

Voters renew tax!
The unofficial results of Tuesday’s election are as follows.
The County question, asking voters to renew a 1 cent sales tax that has been in place since the 90’s was passed with 71.08% approval. Votes for the tax totaled 821, against 334.
In the Antlers School Board Election between Vicki O’Donnell and Angie Norman, O’Donnell takes the seat with 68.16%. O’Donnell received 471 votes while Norman received 220.

Man who killed Trooper facing First Degree Manslaughter charges

Oklahoma City - Friday morning, Feb 6, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers arrested Steven Wayne Clark at his residence in Cushing, Oklahoma. He will be processed into the Seminole County jail, where the Seminole County District Attorney plans to file first degree manslaughter charges relating to the death of Trooper Nicholas Dees.

Jerry Duncan, Pushmataha County Commissioner District 2, is facing three felony charges. Charges include: Count #1 - Embezzlement by a County Officer ~ 21 O.S. § 1451C, a FELONY; Count #2 - Presenting a False, Fictitious or Fraudulent claim against the State ~ 21 O.S. § 358 and 21 O.S. § 359, a FELONY; Count #3 - Presenting a False, Fictitious or Fraudulent claim against the State ~ 21 O.S. § 358 and 21 O.S. § 359, a FELONY. BREAKING NEWS: PHIL SAYS "#SIXMOREWEEKSOFWINTER"

Just after 7:10 a.m., the "Top Hats," also known as the members of the
Groundhog Club's Inner Circle, made their ceremonial march toward the
stage, beginning the keynote event of a weekend filled with activity
throughout the town of Punxsutawney.

Members of the Inner Circle greeted the crowd after they worked their
way through it, then it was "time to get serious about the weather,"
as Jeff Lundy, vice president of the Groundhog Club, announced. At
that point, the official festivities began with the introductions of
the members of the Inner Circle.

Young man shot and killed in Antlers

A young man, Wesley Long (19), was shot and killed late last night, Thursday, January 29, in Antlers.
According to sources an arrest has been made in connection to the shooting.
We will update as information becomes available throughout the investigation.

Pushmataha County named poorest county in Oklahoma

Recently there has been a lot of talk about budgets, finances and income throughout Pushmataha County.
Our area isn’t the only ones having a deeper look into this subject. According to a report that was released from 24/7 Wall Street, they too took a look and have named the poorest county in each state of the United States of America based on the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey.
