PD arrests woman, DHS notified

May 24, 2013

Over the weekend a woman filed an assault report with the Clayton Police Department.

Officer Randall S. McGillvary was called to the P.D. to take the report.

When he arrived at the office, Skye Griffith told him that she wanted to make a report against her former roommate, Marissa Marris.

Griffith said that they were at Marissa’s father’s house when Marissa yelled at one of her (Griffith) children. Griffith stated that when she told Marris that there was no reason to take it out on the children Marris came at her from across the room, punching her in the head and face.

Man arrested for child endangerment

State Trooper Tommy Richardson was called to Headquarters about a vehicle in McCurtain County that was heading westbound on State HWY 3. The passenger in the vehicle was on the phone with headquarters saying that the driver was drunk and wouldn’t stop and let her and the 4 year old child they had with them out of t he vehicle. The vehicle was described to headquarters and Trooper Richardson made contact with the vehicle.

2 year old found trying to wake passed out man

On May 11, 2013, a 1 or 2 year old female child was found standing next to a passed out male driver trying to wake him up.

Deputy Darrell Nichols was on patrol in Pushmataha County heading south on Gilly Road, coming up to HWY 271 North, when he found a green vehicle parked in the middle of the intersection with the motor running and headlights on.

As Nichols approached the vehicle the first thing he saw was a white male passed out behind the wheel with his feet on the clutch and break petals. Standing next to the man was the child trying to wake him up.

New businesses blooming throughout Pushmataha County

As spring is in full swing new businesses have been seen blooming across Pushmataha County. One of the most recent literally had traffic at a stand still while they hoisted their signs into place.

Antlers woman dies in car crash

Over the weekend an Antlers woman lost her life after being involved in a collision on HWY 271 just 10 miles south of Clayton.

Tori Dunn, a 35 year old white female, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2000 Chevy Trail Blazer departed the roadway to the left, traveled 135 feet, the driver over-corrected to the right, traveled 129 more feet before the vehicle rolled one complete time. Dunn was ejected form the vehicle approximately 60 feet. She was transported to Mill’s & Coffey Funeral Home in Antlers.

Schier competes in Oklahoma Homecoming Queen Pageant

Kelsee Rae Schier, Antlers 2012 Football Queen competed Sunday, April 28th, in Oklahoma City at the 33rd Annual Oklahoma's Homecoming Queen Pageant.

This pageant is sponsored by America's Homecoming Queen, Inc. It is a scholarship pageant and will include interviews and an evening gown competition. If chosen as Oklahoma's Homecoming Queen she will represent the State in the National pageant at Disneyland this summer.
