Representative Markwayne Mullin was sworn into the United States House of Representatives today. He will represent Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District in the 113th Congress.
â€śI am extremely humbled and honored for the privilege to represent the people of Oklahoma's 2nd District,â€ť said Mullin. â€śI am looking forward to the work ahead and for the opportunity to serve.â€ť
At the regularly scheduled board meeting of the Antlers City Council, City Mayor, Mike Burrage (pictured above), signed a proclamation declaring January National Mentoring Month for the City of Antlers.
This proclamation was to help recognize that our success depends on helping children succeed in school and reach their full potential in life, and realize that young people need a solid foundation of support that will help them become well-educated, confident and productive citizens of Pushmataha County.
Word spread quickly after Choctaw County Deputies located a still at the home of a Choctaw County senior citizen, and arrested him on charges of making moonshine.
According to Choctaw County Sheriff Terry Park, a deputy went to the house, which was located northwest of Soper, around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013, on a search warrant for another case when he found a still in a metal trailer on the property.

On Wednesday morning, January 2, 2013, county officials were sworn
into office. Those being sworn in included: Terry Duncan, Pushmataha County Sheriff; Jerry Duncan, County Commissioner Dist. 2; Jane Dunlap, Court Clerk; and Tina Freeman, County Court Clerk.
The New Year is brought in a new southwest Oklahoma traveling opportunity for anglers and their families looking for small-town hospitality and rainbow trout. The new Medicine Creek trout season is kicked off Jan. 1, 2013, and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will stock the fishery every two weeks through March 15.
The Wildlife Department is partnering with the City of Medicine Park to provide a new trout fishery in a half-mile stretch of Medicine Creek from Gondola Dam downstream to the HWY 49 bridge.

Average retail gasoline prices in Oklahoma have risen 2.6 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.98/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 2,294 gas outlets in Oklahoma. This compares with the national average that has not moved in the last week to $3.24/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
