The Antlers Farmer's Market is once again open and ready for business. The Farmerâ€™s Market is open for operation every Wednesday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until Noon. It is located across the street from The Convenience Center in Antlers.
Until the end of August, they are running a special to encourage farmers and gardeners to come out and sell their produce for profit.
â€śIf you over planted, your plants produced more then you expected or you just want to make some extra cash, why not sell at the Farmerâ€™s Market?,â€ť said Shawn Long with PDI.
The Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS) announced today the results of its annual inspection of tobacco outlets to measure compliance with laws restricting underage tobacco sales. This yearâ€™s compliance rate of 6.8 percent is the lowest ever for the state.
On June 2nd, 2012, the Rattan Fire Department won the Choctaw County Fire Fighters Challenge in Hugo. This is their fourth consecutive win. Darren Couch, owner of Elite Construction & Fabrication located in Antlers, was selected as the recipient of the 2012 Oklahoma Entrepreneurial Success Award.
This award is presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration and recognizes business leaders in the community who began as a small business and later developed into a larger business. Such growth equates to more jobs and an improved local economy.
Early Sunday morning, June 17, 2012, an Antlers Police officerâ€™s personal vehicle was set on fire. The vehicle was located in the side parking area, in the alley, next to the Police Department. As voters head to the polls on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 many have already made up their minds as to which candidates they are voting for, but some have not. The ballots have plenty of names to choose from with multiple candidates running for most categories.
For the local office of Pushmataha County Sheriff there are six democrat candidates running. They are: John Arthur, Dan Breshears, Terry Duncan, Keith Mack, Ryan Mitchell and Calvin Smith.
There are a total of nine candidates running for the Congressional office of U.S. Representative of District 2, which was previously held by Dan Boren.

This year's theme for the Miss Pushmataha County Homecoming Pageant was "Festival Of Colors". The pageant was held June 9, 2012 at the Antlers High School Auditorium. The Auditorium was filled with family and friends that came out to show these young ladies their support.
With the weather steadily heating up, kids being out of school and gardeners asking for rain it can only mean one thing, the 2012 Pushmataha County Homecoming is once again upon us. The community is buzzing with anticipation, wondering what will come and hoping for a grand celebration with family and friends. This yearâ€™s theme is â€śPush For A Good Time,â€ť and that is exactly what we plan to do!
At the County Commissionerâ€™s Meeting that was held on Monday, June 4, 2012, the Commissioners named individuals to the Board for Pushmataha Countyâ€™s 911 System.
The Commissioners double appointed the Ambulance Board to take the rains of the 911 Board. They feel that this was a great fit since each of the board members already knows the county well and no training was needed for the board members.
â€śIt was a really good fit,â€ť said Antlers Fire Chief Randy Janoe. â€śThey all know their areas, as well as the county, and know how to operate a board successfully.â€ť
