The Pushmataha County OSU Cooperative Extension Service in Antlers would like to Welcome Julie Staiger to our office. Julie will be the new Family -Consumer Sciences and Half Time 4-H educator for our county.

When an inmate in Pushmataha County jail found out that her Dell Laptop had been pawned, an arrest warrant was issued.
Police Chief Dwayne Morgan received a call from the Pushmataha County Jail and the jailer told him that Amber Kirkley was currently incarcerated in the jail due to a violation in drug court and was picked up on November 19, 2012. Kirkley had found out that Bobby Ray Merritt had pawned her laptop computer at Duncan’s Pawn Shop and she wanted to file charges against Merritt.

In December, the U.S. health officials announced that this year’s influenza season had started early and they predicted it would hit the United States hard. Unfortunately, as reports from around the country make clear, they were right.
Nancy Pelosi, the Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives, expressed support for raising additional taxes as a part of any negotiation for deficit reducing measures. On the CBS Sunday program, Face The Nation, Leader Pelosi was quoted as saying the recent fiscal cliff tax increase of $620 billion was “Not nearly enough on the revenue side.”
Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-2) issued the following statement in response to Leader Pelosi’s call for raising taxes on more Americans:
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) today reacted to President Obama’s announcement on guns that includes both Executive Orders and the pursuit of legislation through Congress.
“While we mourn with those who have lost loved ones, in no way should the actions of those few who act illegally impact the constitutional rights of the many,” said Inhofe. “I will continue to strongly oppose any effort to undermine the Second Amendment and an individual citizen's right to keep and bear arms.”

Last week Myrtle Edmond, Madge Gentry and the Pushmataha Historical Society received a rather surprising gift in the mail from Hon. Elton Gallegly, Congressman from California and former Antlers resident.
Three plaques commemorating the Historical Society’s hard work and dedication, which specifically mentioned Myrtle Edmond and Madge Gentry for the passion and professionalism they showed when the Congressman visited the Historical Society, with the speech that the Congressman gave in front of the House of Representatives on December 31, 2012 in the second session of the 112th Congress.

The Antlers Police Department Office Wyatt Williams responded to an assault call at Chilango’s Mexican Restaurant in Antlers after Julio Ceasar Castillo Andres, of Hugo, tried to stab a restaurant employee.
According to the police report, on January 12, 2013 at about 1:30 p.m., Andres came in the back door of the restaurant mad and pulled a knife from his waistband. After doing so he went after Jose Rojas and tried to stab him. According to Rojas, he tried to run around the kitchen to get away from Andres , going as far as moving a plate cart between them.

(Oklahoma City, OK.) - The Department of Public Safety is warning traffic law violators of new restrictions concerning traffic laws.
House Bill 1507, which was signed by Governor Fallin on May 18th, 2011, took effect November 1st, 2011. It calls for a mandatory one year drivers license revocation for any licensee convicted of the following traffic offenses:
1. Reckless driving without regard to the safety of others.
2. Failure to stop for a school bus loading or unloading children.
The National Rifle Association of America is made up of over 4 million moms and dads, daughters and sons, who are involved in the national conversation about how to prevent a tragedy like Newtown from ever happening again. We attended today's White House meeting to discuss how to keep our children safe and were prepared to have a meaningful conversation about school safety, mental health issues, the marketing of violence to our kids and the collapse of federal prosecutions of violent criminals.

The Pushmataha County Commissioners have received confirmation from the ACCO (Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma) Board of Directors that the application which they submitted for the STP (Surface Transportation Program) Project selection list for 2017, category 2, has been approved. The final decision was made on December 12, 2012.
Pushmataha County’s application was ranked 1st of the 13 who applied, which only 6 of them were approved for funding.
