A site in Pushmataha County has been selected by CRU (Clean Renewable Utility) Energy Corporation as a possible location for the construction of a 1-Megawatt power plant.
Clayton Councilman, Dan Nix, has been coordinating with CRU to survey local conditions that would be appropriate for one of the several plants that are going to be constructed across Texas and Oklahoma.
On Friday and Saturday, April 1st & 2nd, many residents and nonresidents alike turned out for the 2nd Annual Southeast Oklahoma Yard & Garden Expo put on by OSU Extension Services in Antlers.
U.S. Congressman Dan Boren met with General Ann E. Dunwoody, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), recently in his Washington D.C. office. AMC is one of the largest commands in the Army with more than 66,000 employees and an impact or presence in 48 states and 127 countries.
AMC is the Army command that oversees the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (McAAP) in eastern Oklahoma. Congressman Boren also currently serves as the Democrat Co-Chair for the Military Depot and Industrial Facilities Caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives.
It was announced today that Governor Mary Fallin has signed a bill into law that authorizes the Department of Human Services to release a â€śMost Wantedâ€ť list of delinquent or missing parents who owe back child support. Senate Bill 576 creates a new tool for DHS to find these parents when traditional means have been exhausted. The â€śMost Wantedâ€ť lists may include a delinquent parentâ€™s name, photograph, last known address and amount of child support owed.
The Antlers Public School District is facing yet another lawsuit in response to the recent suspensions of middle school students involved in a prescription drug incident on school property during school hours.
The first suit came from the Thatcher family after their daughter was suspended for the rest of the 2011 school year for having been in possession of a prescription medication that was a generic non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.
Three county men are facing several drug-related felonies after officers serving a search warrant found drugs.
According to information filed in district court, on Tuesday, officers with the Pushmataha County Sheriffâ€™s Department and District 17 Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence of Ronald Clark. When the officers arrived, they found Clark as well as Jamie Calhoun, and Joshua Wade Scherer sitting at a table.
Â Justin Frisk, Antlers High School, will join over 5,000 other conference delegates from across the nation to participate in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2011 National Leadership Conference, "Stand Out From The Crowd," in Washington, D.C. May 4th though the 8th. Â Frisk will be participating in a national level business skills competition.Â
Besides having the opportunity to excel, theyâ€™ll experience the history and government of our nation through Washington, DC monuments, memorials and museums.
Â On Saturday, March 26, the Antlers High School Cheerleaders gathered together at Sonic Drive-In in Antlers to try to raise funds to help cover Cheerleading Camp costs.
Along with the funds the cheerleaders raised being carhops, manager Matt Early and the Sonic crew donated 10% of all profits made during the four hours that the squad was there.
Thanks to them and the generous donations from the community, the squad raised $1050.10.Â
The AHS Cheerleaders would like to say thank you to all who came out to support them and make this day such a success.
The Webelos II Den of Pack 396 went to DFW Airport during Spring Break to participate in the "Welcome Home the Troops" program. Â Everyday more than 100 troops arrive at the airport on their way home for two weeks of well-deserved rest and recuperation (R&R). Â Most of these members of the armed forces are returning home from their service in Irag and Afghanistan.
Whoever said a child couldnâ€™t make a difference? Well whoever it was, they were wrong. Pushmataha County is the proud home of a 8 year-old little girl who is doing amazing things to help support her Great Aunt as she goes through cancer treatments and is also helping to raise cancer awareness.
