Bond reduction denied in Cole case

The bond reduction for an Antlers man who was charged with first degree murder was denied yesterday.

Henry "J.C" Cole is accused of killing his nephew last April. The 69-year-old man called 911 on April 15, 2013, to report that he had found his nephew's body on his property.

The medical examiner ruled Gene Cole's death a homicide caused by a shotgun wound to the neck.

Officials say they found two shotguns at Henry Cole's home and determined one was used to kill Gene Cole.

Cole's arrangement is set for Today.

"Purge" threat in Oklahoma getting attention from police

It’s an Internet threat making its way around the country, and now it’s hitting in Oklahoma.

The threats come from an Internet flyer calling for the “Oklahoma purge.” It’s in reference to the 2013 movie by the same name where all crime, including murder, is legal for one night.

According to the flyer, the Oklahoma purge will take place on Aug. 30 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Aug. 31. Law Enforcement officers in the state are aware of the flyer and are monitoring the situation.

Burger Day to benefit Relay For Life

The Pushmataha County Chamber of Commerce Relay For Life Team, sponsored by the Hungry Horse Cafe in Antlers, will hold a “Burger Day” at the cafe (101 West Main) on Friday, August 15th.
For every burger basket that is purchased during the event, which lasts all day, The Hungry Horse Cafe will donate 25% of those sales to our Relay For Life Team.
“We [Chamber and Relay Team] are so thankful that the Hungry Horse Cafe agreed to partner with us for this event,” stated Shaun Long. “They have amazing food and are such wonderful people.”
