James âLeonâ Hale was born to James âFredâ Hale and Nadine Hale on September 4, 1951 in Rio Arriba, NM. He passed from this life on Monday, September 3, 2012 in Antlers at the age of 60. Leon enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, playing his guitar, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his dog, âLady.â His family and friends will always remember him as being the jokester of the family.
Susan Evelyn Glover was born October 6, 1918 in Mt. Ida, Arkansas to Rufus and Annie (Smith) Carter. She passed from this life September 4, 2012 in Antlers at the age of 93. Susan married Rhea Lewis Glover on January 16, 1943 in Austin, TX. She had lived in the Antlers community since that time. Susan was of the Pentecostal faith and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Susan was preceded in death by her husband: Rhea Lewis Glover; parents: Rufus & Annie Carter; and two sons: Leonard Glover & William "Bill" Elliot Rhea Glover.
Adam Joseph Steele was born July 18, 1977 in Oklahoma City to Rick and Debbie Steele of Antlers. Adam was riding his motorcycle on September 2, 2012 when a vehicle accidentally turned in front of him, causing him to lose control. Adam was taken to the OU Medical Center and was pronounced dead the following day, September 3rd. Adam saved many lives by generously donating his organs to several people within the state. In 1995 he graduated from Antlers High School where he excelled in football and academics.
Sue OâConnell was born September 10, 1940 to Wilma Doris and William David Latham in the Miller Community near Antlers. She passed from this life on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 in Enloe, TX., at the age of 71. Sue was a 1958 graduate of Paris High School in Paris, TX. She has lived in Bryan , TX., for the past 12 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, and was a member of the Womenâs Guild. She was an excellent home keeper and loved to read.
Betty Ethel Vandiver was born on November 1, 1922 in Yukon to Horace Herman Park and Etta Jane (Howell) Parks. She passed from this life on Sunday, September 9, 2012 in Hugo at the age of 89. Betty married Grady Roe Vandiver in 1942 in Claremore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Antlers Methodist Church and the Eastern Star in Antlers. Betty lived on a ranch near Antlers for many years helping outdoors. After her husbandâs death, she moved to Atoka and later to Hugo where she lived for several years.
