Thursday Scrambles take hiatus

June 29, 2011

We haven’t had a scramble in over a month due to lack of participation. We have been playing CATS for the last few weeks but last week there were only 3 of us. Until further notice, the Thursday Scrambles are suspended.

If you are a golfer and want to see Wednesday, Thursday or Friday competitions, get in touch with me and we can discuss something. Without community support I cannot continue to groom the course mid week and have no one come out.

Special thanks to the guys who come out on Monday evenings. We’ll keep it groomed for you.

Morning golf recommended

June 15, 2011

I suspected that when summer arrived that it would arrive all of a sudden and with a vengeance. Sure enough it has been almost August like i the weather department here lately.

I recommend playing golf in the morning if a person can. The mornings have been nice. Of course that is when we do most of the course work but I figure we could watch out for each other.

Pine Creek Lake Team Bass Tournament

June 15, 2011

On Saturday, June 11, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a team bass tournament on Pine Creek Lake. The lake is ten feet below normal level due to repair construction being done on the dam. The areas that most anglers usually fish were high and dry which made locating bass difficult for some. However, there were a few that seemed to have no trouble finding some "keeper" bass.

Old friends drop by for golf

June 8, 2011

We had some old friends drop by the golf course last Friday. Bob Homerding, his daughter Jan Pyle, son Tom and granddaughter Matty came out and played a round. It’s been a while since I had seem them and it was quite a surprise. Bob moved to Las Vegas a few years ago. Jan lives in Georgetown, TX., and when Bob comes to visit they always make it up to see me. I appreciate that. It would be nice if everyone’s customers were as loyal as the Homerding family.

Anglers participate in husband-wife bass tournament

June 8, 2011

Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held their annual Husband-Wife Bass Tournament and Fish Fry on Saturday, June 4. The tournament was held on McGee Creek Lake. Anglers fished from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with clear skies and temperatures reaching into the mid 90’s. The bright, hot conditions may have contributed to the "slow bite" that most of the contestants experienced during the tournament. However, one team did manage to put together a nice stringer.
