Sardis Lake Tournament draws large numbers

On Saturday, May 19, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on Sardis Lake. Twenty anglers competed in the event. More anglers may have competed had it not been for the fact that strong winds were predicted for that day. Sardis Lake can become quite dangerous on windy days due to the large wave action. The wind was a factor to those who did compete as many were not able to go to and fish in some of their normal areas of the lake.

Fireman's tournament raises over $1,200

Dennis Willeford won the big fish and heavy stringing in the Saturday, May 12, 2012 Antlers Fire Department Annual Bass Tournament that was held on McGee Creek Lake from 6:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The big fish weighed in at 6.75 lbs and the total weight of Willeford’s winning stringer was 8.50 lbs. This event was held to raise money to go towards a loan payment for their ladder truck. The event raised over $1,200.00.

Free youth fishing tournament big success

On Saturday, May 12, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club teamed up with members from the McGee Creek Bass Club to host a free youth fishing tournament at McGee Creek Lake. The event was open to any youth that was sixteen years old and younger. Approximately twenty young anglers participated in the tournament. Several more were expected, but the wet, rainy conditions may have kept many of the kids from participating.

Lady Rams repeat as 3A Slow-pitch STATE Champs

Last week both the Rattan Lady Rams and the Rattan Rams participated in State Baseball and Softball Tournaments, and both took home the prestigious title of State Champions.

The Lady Rams were named the Class 3A Slow-pitch Softball State Champs and Class 3A Academic Champs on Friday, May 4, 2012.

A parade of more than 70 vehicles, including lights and sirens, escorted them through Antlers on their way home to Rattan.

Rattan Rams take home STATE title

Last week both the Rattan Lady Rams and the Rattan Rams participated in State Baseball and Softball Tournaments, and both took home the prestigious title of State Champions.

The Rams were named Class A Baseball State Champs and were awarded Class A Academic Achievement Certificates.

A parade of more than 70 vehicles, including lights and sirens, escorted them through Antlers on their way home to Rattan.

JR Bassmasters Compete in State Tournament

On Sunday, April 29, five of the Pushmataha County Junior Bassmasters traveled to Lake Eufaula to compete in the 2012 Oklahoma State Championship of the B.A.S.S. Junior Bassmasters. Competing in the 15-18 year old category were anglers: Jessie Shrader, David Atwood and Dillan Holiman. Representing the Push County club in the 11-14 year old group was Jake Nabors and Jordan Haddox.

Hugo Lake Team Bass Tournament draws in 27 anglers

On Saturday, May 5, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a team bass tournament on Hugo Lake. Twenty-seven anglers competed in the tournament. The lake level was near normal and the weather was cooperating with clear to party cloudy skies, warm temperatures and breezy conditions. These conditions allowed a few anglers to put together some nice stringers of bass.

Students to travel to Stillwater to compete in Special Olympics

On Tuesday May 8, 2012, the students participating in the Special Olympics will travel to Stillwater to compete in the State Special Olympics games. Students will compete in track events such as the 50 meter dash, the 25 meter partner walk, the standing long jump, the softball throw and the turbo javelin . This group of students have raised money throughout the year by growing and selling plants, working concession stands, and with business and personal sponsors.

4-H Shooting Sports Results

Members of the Pushmataha County 4-H recently competed in the S.E. District Shooting Sports Archery Contest in McAlester. Several of the members attending from Pushmataha County placed in the competition.

Big Bass Rodeo draws over 100 anglers to Pine Creek

April 26, 2012

Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held the 41st Annual Big Bass Rodeo on April 21st and 22nd. The big bass tournament was held on Pine Creek Lake. Fifty-five boats with over one hundred anglers were entered in the event. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the top five finishers.
