March 4th
The Moyers Tigers are State Bound after defeating the McCurtain Bulldogs 65-55 Saturday night in Kingston. The Tigers claimed the Area Runner Up Trophy after falling to the Red Oak Eagles on Friday night. The Tigers played hard against the Eagles and the score was close through the end of the 3rd quarter. However, the Tigers shooting was cold throughout the game and their efforts fell short with a final score of 53-42.
The Saturday night game was a rematch of the Regional Championship game with the McCurtain Bulldogs.
The Bearcats will move on into a new bracket as they play their first game in Area competition. They boys will take the court in Byng at 3:00 p.m.(Thursday). Good Luck Boys!!
The Rattan Rams clinched a spot in the Area Championship with a win on Saturday, February 23, 2013 against Howe. The game was intense with back to back scoring which kept both teams on their toes but the Rams took the “W” with a final score of 43-34. The Rams will take the court against Oktaha at 3 pm in Wilburton (Thursday, Feb. 28). Good Luck Rams!!!!
February 22nd
The Moyers Tigers defeated the McCurtain Bulldogs in a hard fought battle on Saturday night at the Regional Championships in Ada. The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead with hot 3-pt shooting and had the Tigers down by 11 at the end of the first quarter.
But the Tigers clawed their way back to within 3 at the half. The Tigers continued to battle and took the lead by 1 at the end of the 3rd quarter. The 4th quarter belonged to the Tigers with a 65-60 victory over the Bulldogs.
For the first time in 16 years, BOTH the Lady Cats and Bearcats were named the 2013 Class 3A District Basketball Champions. The Lady Cats will advance to Regionals in hopes on continuing on to Area play.
Bearcats go into District Playoffs with 16-4 record!
The Rattan Ram were recently named the 2013 Class 2A District Basketball Champions. They will continue forward to Regionals to compete for a chance to continue on to the Area competition.
February 15th
February 1st our Bearcats traveled to Atoka to take on the Atoka Wampuscats, who we had already taken on and beat at home so they were looking for a bit of redemption on their home court. In the beginning it seemed Atoka was up to the challenge ending the first period four points ahead with a score of 11-15 Atoka. Sr. Guard Harlan House was the leader in stats for this game with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3steals and 2 assists in the first half alone.
February 8th
Jake Collins recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Eastern Oklahoma State College. Jake is the grandson of Kenneth & Royce Battles of Antlers and was recently name Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association Player of the Year. Seated are his parents: Ed Collins & Tammy Collins. Standing is head coach Craig Price.
Hundreds of students from across the state recently competed in the 66th annual Southeast District Livestock Show at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton. The show is jointly sponsored by the Eastern Agriculture Division and the Wilburton Lions Club. There were 413 swine, 108 sheep, 159 goats and 124 cattle entered in the show.
