The Kiamichi Technology Center - Atoka recently made a generous donation to the Antlers EMS/ Ambulance Service following their HOSA Community Service Project. On Wednesday morning, January 2, 2013, county officials were sworn
into office. Those being sworn in included: Terry Duncan, Pushmataha County Sheriff; Jerry Duncan, County Commissioner Dist. 2; Jane Dunlap, Court Clerk; and Tina Freeman, County Court Clerk.
January 3rd
Lake of the Arbuckles: December 22. Elevation 5 1/4 ft. below normal, water 53 and clear to stained in upper arms. Algae bloom on surface. Crappie slow on docks, brushpiles in 25+ ft. water, good using white or chartreuce jigs and minnows. Sand bass have moved to the knolls and dropoofs in midlake out from dam, 3/4 oz. CC spoon near drops. Bass fishing can be good using crankbaits, jerkbaits and dropshot jigs, Alabama rigs also working. Report submitted by Jack Melton.
The New Year is brought in a new southwest Oklahoma traveling opportunity for anglers and their families looking for small-town hospitality and rainbow trout. The new Medicine Creek trout season is kicked off Jan. 1, 2013, and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation will stock the fishery every two weeks through March 15.
The Wildlife Department is partnering with the City of Medicine Park to provide a new trout fishery in a half-mile stretch of Medicine Creek from Gondola Dam downstream to the HWY 49 bridge.
