Two of Pushmataha Countyâ€™s very own have made their movie debut as extras in the paranormal thriller â€śThe Last Word.â€ť The sure to be a hit movie began filming in Shreveport and Mansfield, LA, in November 2013 and is now in post production with hopes of being released by Fall 2014.
The headlining stars of the film include Mike Doyle (Green Lantern, Law and Order/ P.S. I Love You), Erin Cummings (Mad Men/Ice Man/ Dark House and Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints/Powder/Saw 3D: The Final Chapter/ Dexter).
Jeanne Nichols was born July 10, 1930 in Hegins, PA., to Walter and Lydia Klinger. She passed from this life on December 31, 2013 in her home where she lived with her dauther in Wylie, TX. Jeanne fought the courageous fight against Lung Cancer and COPD. She succumbed to complications from COPD. Jeanne was a long time resident of Sobol. She was preceded in death by her parents: Walter and Lydia Klinger; brother: Frank Klinger; sister: Marie Artz and by many beloved pets.
Louis Franklyn Williams was born October 6, 1945, in Antlers to John August and Cora Sycreness (Allen) Williams. He passed from this life on December 28, 2013, in Antlers at the age of 68. Frankie served in the United States Army and stationed at the Dominican Republic. Frankie obtained the rank of corporal. He later married Mary Campbell February 12, 1966 in Antlers. Frankie worked as an equipment operator and logger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, working on machinery, as well as spending time with his family and friends.

This year our Bearcats and Ladycats played their season opening games in the Pick and Shovel Invitational hosted by Hartshorne. One could say our athletics program has undergone many changes in the last school year, losing Coach Branton, gaining a new Head Coach, for both basketball and football and a new Athletic Director. Our new Athletic Director is Coach Speer who hails from Marietta. Our new basketball Coach and also Middle School Assistant Principle is Mr.
The Clayton Boys 7th and 8th boys basketball team won 1st place at the Clayton Invitational Grade School Tournament and the Quinton Invitational Tournament. They currently have a 12-0 record.
Santa and this reindeer were caught flying over Antlers during the holidays. Santa was seen making his stops and double checking his list of the naughty and nice boys and girls in Pushmataha County. He told the staff of The Antlers American to wish all of our readers a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Robert (Bob) Sterling Settles, 66, of Antlers, Oklahoma, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at his home. Bob was born November 26, 1947, to J.B. and Jewel Dean King Settles in Big Springs, Texas. He married Elizabeth Ann Allen on November 5, 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Deana Settles Meier, brother, Rowdy Settles and son, Rafe Sterling Settles. He is survived by his spouse, Liz Settles. Surviving children are Jacy Beth Perkins and husband, Dustin, Amber Celeste Duncan and husband, Charlie, sons, Zachary and Zeth Allen.
Betty Jo Wilson passed from this life Saturday, December 14, 2013 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 78. Betty was born March 29, 1935 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Herbert and Evelene (Kellett) Hill. She married Donald Wilson on December 19, 1967 in Santa Monica, California. Betty was a homemaker. She enjoyed crafting and attending craft shows. She loved flowers and gardening. Betty was preceded in death by her first husband Charles Ray Wallace; her second husband Donald Wilson; her father Herbert Hill and her son Michael Wallace.
