Antlers Student advances to Nationals

Regional champions from all over the state traveled to Tulsa on Sunday, April 15th, for the State SkillsUSA Conference. Contestants competed in both job skills contests and leadership contests. Kiamichi Technology Center-Atoka had a standout student who placed in both competitions.

Adam Jobe, Antlers High School, placed 1st in the Construction contest, advancing him to the National SkillsUSA competition this summer in Kansas City, MO. Adam is a second-year high school student, under the instruction of Jim Marley at KTC-Atoka.

Big Bass Rodeo draws over 100 anglers to Pine Creek

Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held the 41st Annual Big Bass Rodeo on April 21st and 22nd. The big bass tournament was held on Pine Creek Lake. Fifty-five boats with over one hundred anglers were entered in the event. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded to the top five finishers.

Junior Bassmasters to Fish State Tournament

Members of the Pushmataha County Junior Bassmasters Club will travel to Lake Eufaula on Sunday, April 29, 2012 to compete in the 2012 Oklahoma B.A.S.S. Federation Nation Junior Bassmasters State Tournament.

Six members of the club qualified to compete in this year’s event. In the 11-14 year age group, Jake Nabors and Jordan Haddox will be competing. Four members qualified in the 15-18 year age group. They are Dillan Holiman, Chelsi Thomas, Jessie Shrader and David Atwood.

Pushmataha County recognized documentary

Pushmataha County was recognized in the debut of a documentary titled "The Earth Chronicles Project: Oklahoma" held on Saturday, March 17 at the Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art in Shawnee.

Fran Hardy, M.Ed., artist and educator and Bob Demboski, filmmaker, produced a series of documentaries that illustrate the intersection of art, creativity, ecological sustainability and cultural preservation in different regions of the United States.

Annual Tea presented by Twentieth Century Club

Members of the Antlers Twentieth Century Club, OK Chapter of the GFWC, met on Apr. 11, 2012, at 1:00 p.m., in the home of Roberta Burrage to have the annual Antlers High School Senior Girls Tea. All members participated by bringing finger foods. Tea and punch were served.

There were 28 beautiful girls in attendance. The girls were welcomed by Roberta and given a short history of the GFWC Club. Refreshments were served and the girls sat at tables provided on the patio by the pool area.

4-H members attend Science Lock-In

The Pushmataha County 4-Her’s recently attended the S.E. District 4-H Science Museum Lock in Oklahoma City. The theme for this year’s lock in was: Pirates without the Caribbean. There were around 50 members that attend.

Big Bass Rodeo

If you enjoy bass fishing, winning cash, prizes and trophies, then you might want to enter in this year’s Big Bass Rodeo. The Pushmataha County Sportsman Club will host the 41st Annual Big Bass Rodeo on April 21-22 at Pine Creek Lake. This is the oldest, continuous running big bass tournament in the state and quite possibly the nation. This is the club’s only fund raising event.

Players recognized at AHS Basketball Banquet

Last Saturday night, coaches, players, parents, and friends gathered to celebrate this 2011/2012 Basketball season. The LadyCats finished their season with a 2nd place trophy from the Talihina Tournament, a Championship Trophy from the Tushka Tournament, Championship trophy from our Antlers Festival, and a District Championship Trophy.

Our Bearcats walked away from this season with a 2nd place trophy from the Tushka Tournament, and Championships of Antlers Festival. Awards received at this year's banquet included:
