On Sunday, July 17, 2011 at approximately 10:06 p.m., a 1991 Chevy truck being driven by Luke R. Roberts, a 20 year-old white make from Albion, struck a pedestrian while attempting to yield to an emergency vehicle about 1 mile north and 1 mile east of Clayton on SH2 in Pushmataha County.
According to Trooper reports, the â91 Chevy was traveling northbound and the pedestrian was also walking northbound. The vehicle moved to the right while and hit James Guy Exon, a 61 year-old white male from Clayton, the pedestrian.

As drought conditions continue to worsen across Oklahoma, Governor Mary Fallin has issued an Executive Proclamation banning outdoor burning for much of the state. Oklahoma Forestry Services, a division of the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, recommended the ban based upon an analysis of fire activity, wildland fuel conditions and the predicted continued drought as criteria for recommending the ban.

A graduate of Antlers High School recently participated in The 2011 Native All-Star Game which was played on Saturday, July 9, 2011 in Denton, TX. Colton Maynard, a 2011 graduate of Antlers High School, suited up to be a member of the Red Hawks team.

Twenty-four members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club competed in their annual Noon to Noon Bass Tournament held on July 16 and 17. The tournament was held on McGee Creek Lake and started at 12:00 noon on Saturday and ended at 12:00 noon on Sunday. A weigh-in was held at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
Orginizers have been working hard for a couple of months now to get the word out and getting guys signed up to play in High School Alumni Football games. This proves to be an amazing opportunity former athletes to get to play full contact football again, as well as represent tradition, comradery, and their hometown.Â
The games have been postponed until the fall to give the teams a little more time to get signed up and for the games to build some traction, and excitement. Over all 64 guys around the area have signed up.Â
Many of us might not have heard that since 2008Â a Canadian oil company, TransCanada, has been awaiting approval to start construction on an extension project called the Keystone XL Oil Pipeline. This pipeline would extend the companies existing Keystone Pipeline, which currently runs from Alberta, Canada to Cushing, OK, to supply oil to others in Oklahoma and ultimately Port Arthur, TX.

The Oklahoma Rodeo Pageants Council, Inc., host of the Miss Rodeo Oklahoma Scholarship Pageant, has recently announced their upcoming pageant in Oklahoma City. The pageant will be held July 20 through July 23, 2011 and two girls from Rattan will take part in t he pageant representing the 2011 Hugo PRCA Rodeo.

Bob Parsons was born August 8, 1985 in Idabel to B.J. Parsons and Yonna Parsons. He passed from this life on July 3, 2011 in Idabel at the age of 25. A Carpenter, Bob had lived in McCurtain County all of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working and fixing things, taking his kids fishing, going mudding and spending time with his family and friends.
Bobby Joe Bridges was born November 12, 1929 in Kiowa to William Leo and Vera (Youngblood) Bridges. He passed from this life July 5, 2011 in Tulsa at the age of 81. Bobby served his county in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Melissa Storey September 9, 1953 in Oklahoma City. Bobby was a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed race cars, especially drag racing and going to the bar to have a few drinks and visits with his friends and grandkids. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Details attached to the three counts of juvenile pornography that Ronald V. Frey, a 41 year-old man from Antlers, is being charged with have recently be released.
According to officer statements, affidavit of probable cause, on March 28, 2011 Office Jake Merck was contacted by DHS alleging that Frey had molested his 16 year-old niece who has a low IQ. Officer Merck contacted the childâs mother the following day and requested that she come to the police department so that they could discuss the report that he had received.
