Once again it is time for the Pushmataha County Free Fair. The fair will take place from Wednesday, September 14th until Saturday, September 17th. Indoor entries will be accepted Wednesday, September 14, 2011 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until closing at 6:00 p.m.
On Thursday, September 15, 2011 all baked goods and fresh flower arrangements must be entered by 9:00 a.m. and then the Exhibit building will be closed until after the judging is completed.
All livestock must be entered by 12:00 Noon on Thursday, September 15.
The 2011-2012 Rattan Rodeo Queen has recently been crowned. The new Queen is Cassidy Courtwright. The 2011-2012 Rattan Rodeo Princess was named Jaylel Gorden.
The Rattan Rough Riders Pivot Team 2011-2012 members are: Eli Jones, Morgan Bond, Albert Fowler, Lindsey Hedrick, Dakota Renfro, C.C. Rosson, Rhonda Greenhaw, Cassidy Courtwright, Haley Williams, Molly Holder, Anjelica Smith, Tessa Bond, Hanna Courtwright, Coaches: Teresa Hobbs-Ross, Sandy Benzine and Secretary Cameron Boling and Tommie Jones.

Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held their final regular season bass tournament of 2011 on Saturday, September 10. The tournament was held on Hugo Lake. The cooler temperatures seemed to have helped improve fishing conditions as seven anglers brought a six fish limit to the weigh-in.
William Riley Seale, Jr. was born November 16, 1944 in Pauls Valley to William Riley and Rosa Lee (Ivy) Seale. He passed from this life September 2, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 66. Riley had a love for life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and spending time with family and friends. Riley was preceded in death by his father: Riley Seale, Sr.; mother: Rosa Lee Srote; sister: Neva Milam; and his grandmother: Phoebe Seale.
Terry John White was born September 7, 1963 in Antlers to Delbert Gene and Ima Jean (Hunt) White. He passed from this life September 1, 2011 in Oklahoma City at the age of 47. Terry was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed drawing, fishing, and working on cars. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Terry was preceded in death by his father: Delbert Gene White; two brothers: Frankie Dunlap and Leon White; and a sister: Deborah Ann White.
On Saturday, September 3, 2011 deputies with the Pushmataha County Sheriffâ€™s Department were dispatched to a home on Cornelius Road at around 4:00 p.m. where they found the body of William Riley Seale, Jr, a 67 year old white male, of Antlers.
According to Special Agent Chris Dill of the OSBI (Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations) Seale had died of multiple gun shot wounds from a 20 gage shotgun. Seale was shot in the chest and abdomen areas. How many times for sure Seale was shot is unknown at this time and the OSBI is awaiting the Medical Examiners final report.
Thomas Olden Wade was born November 24, 1930 in Sardis to Lawrence Olden and Effie Lena (Carollton) Wade. He passed from this life August 24, 2011, in Durant at the age of 80. Thomas served his country in the United States Marine Corps, working his way up to Sergeant. He married Neta Fay Labor in Wilburton in 1951. Together, they had two daughters before parting ways. Thomas retired from the Dallas Police Department where he worked for many years as an investigator. He later married Guinda Homer in Arkansas.
Joyce Marie Mullin was born April 8, 1934 in Moyers and spent most of her life in the Neosho area.Â Joyce passed from this life on August 25, 2011 at Freeman West Hospital, following a lengthy illness at the age of 77. She was a homemaker, loved to cook and can and was a member of the DAV Auxiliary and Silvermoon Full Gospel Church.Â She married Wallace D. Thrasher, who preceded her in death and then married Arthur J. Mullin on Nov. 12, 1966 in Neosho, MO., and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1988.Â She was also preceded in death by a son, Bill L.
Veneda Beatrice Latham was born November 6, 1923 in Bokchito to Jesse James and Jewel (Hamlin) McCarty. She passed from this life August 30, 2011 in Antlers at the age of 87. Veneda had been a member of Darwin Baptist Church for many years. She married William David Latham in 1955. Veneda enjoyed caring for her family & cooking, especially for large holiday gatherings. She loved to sew and made most of her own clothes and several items for her friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed taking a drive and doing some local traveling with her family.
