Many Oklahomans have probably been happy there has not been snow to shovel this winter. But the mild weather can cause a problem for your pets.
Typically people think cold winter weather will decrease their pet’s problems with external parasites in the spring. Cold temperatures will kill adult fleas but their immature offspring become dormant. So people think they are no longer in the environment but as temperatures warm the immature stages reappear, said Dr. Carolynn MacAllister, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension veterinarian.

Can you believe it? March is already here! What a wonderful time for public schools, as we all begin the transition into Spring form. Many exciting opportunities for students and parents present themselves during the springtime. Such programs include State Band Contests, FFA Spring shows, baseball and softball games and most importantly, Spring Testing for our 3rd through 12th grade students.

I have to set the record straight. Due to a misplaced period, a comma and a capital letter in last week’s article, a point I was making was misstated.
What should have been written was, “Conservatives think along the same lines 90 plus percent of the time.”
Tea Partyers believe in the constitution 100 percent of the time. Make no mistake about that.
Proof positive once again that words are powerful and statements need to be made clearly. Punctuation counts.

With the beautiful weather we have had the past few weeks, our thoughts have turned to blooming flowers and fresh vegetables. David Hillock, Consumer Horticulture Specialist with the OSU Cooperative Extension Service, has some suggestions for getting your vegetable garden and landscape areas ready for the coming year:
General
· Base any plant fertilization on a soil test. For directions, contact your county Extension Educator.

It seems we live in a time where everything is nearly instantaneous. Renting a movie does not require a trip to the video store. It simply takes a couple of key strokes on your computer. Messages can be sent to friends and family in just a few seconds via email.
There are some things, however, that do take time in order to be successful said Janice Hermann, Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension nutrition specialist.

Ever wonder why the powers that be don’t like the Tea Party? There’s probably several reasons but the main one is that Tea Partyers are average people that look at the facts and are not controlled by a large organization.
Tea Party groups are autonomous. That means that each group tends to it’s own business without regard to national party. This doesn’t mean that we won’t help out another Tea Party group, we do on occasion.
