Well, hopefully you all had a nice Thanksgiving. Found out that several VFW members that went through the November holiday without any family members surrounding them so next year with VFW support we will open the VFW Post hall to serve all Veterans (and their guest) a pot luck style Thanksgiving Dinner. I wonder if we might consider doing this on Christmas day.

Just as soon as we can, after the Thanksgiving Weekend (and as soon as you gentlemen get out of the woods), we will set up a time and date for the Veterans One-Stop. We now have the place. Thanks to the Pushmataha Chamber, we get to use the conference room free of charge. So if you see one the chamber members thank them for their wise decision (You can also thank Rocky Woolman or Jerry Fain since they spearheaded the action to get the use of the conference room).

Cattlemen’s Annual Dinner to be held October 19th

October 17, 2013

Once again October is here, it is time for our annual dinner.

Our program this year will be on farm safety. This is something we all get slack about, we all think we are invincible and take short cuts that end up being costly, wither in loss of equipment , loss of time, loss of limb or life. This year we lost one of our members due to a freak accident. Something we have all done, jump starting a tractor standing in front of the back tires.

Well the first article did it’s Job, it started the conversation going again. I was called about various VA Challenges people are having (and set up appt to take further action on those cases) and visited about the Parade and when we have our VFW meetings. One comment though, I did not list my military retired rank since we do not wear rank at the VFW but provide our services as comrades.

The Pushmataha County Historical Society is preparing for some busier times. The Society will be rearranging some of their displays due to the Chamber of Commerce getting a building of their own. They are now located in their old location in the old PSO building but they now own the building. You will still be able to get several types of information from the Historical Society at the “Old Frisco” railroad depot. The RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) volunteers will be glad to help and to show you through the Historical Museum.

Tea Party News: Washington’s tactic - White noise

March 7, 2013

By Butch Morris

White noise. Have you ever heard this term? White noise is background noise you get used to and ignore. That’s what Washington politicians do to us on a regular basis.

They put out things, such as this sequester business, and talk about it so much that we begin to ignore it. Then they usually have their way with it. and that is usually not the best thing for us.
