The Pushmataha County Historical Society is preparing for some busier times. The Society will be rearranging some of their displays due to the Chamber of Commerce getting a building of their own. They are now located in their old location in the old PSO building but they now own the building. You will still be able to get several types of information from the Historical Society at the “Old Frisco” railroad depot. The RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) volunteers will be glad to help and to show you through the Historical Museum.
April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month.
Congress has recently passed legislation, SAFER (Sexual Assault Forensic Evidence Reporting), that will help eliminate the enormous back log of unsolved sexual assault/rape cases.

White noise. Have you ever heard this term? White noise is background noise you get used to and ignore. That’s what Washington politicians do to us on a regular basis.
They put out things, such as this sequester business, and talk about it so much that we begin to ignore it. Then they usually have their way with it. and that is usually not the best thing for us.
The Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission met Feb. 5 and voted to approve a slate of hunting and fishing related rule changes to go into effect this year. Some of the Commission's most notable actions at its meeting included unanimously withdrawing a proposal to change the structure of the antlered deer harvest limit, rejecting a proposal to lower the age limit on youth deer and turkey season participation, creating a new fall turkey hunting opportunity for youth and amending a proposal to change rules regarding the transportation of bait.

The Tea Party meeting is this Friday night! We haven’t had one since October. I for one am looking forward to it.
The reason we have been off for the last nearly 3 months is because of the holidays in November and December. Not because of the presidential election. Even though that is a sad thing to a conservative and obviously to most Oklahomans. 70% of us voted for the other guy.

The Pushmataha County Historical Society research volunteers are becoming familiar with their new microfilm scanner and are answering most requests for information we may have on film. The backlog of requests was getting quite large while we were without a means of scanning the film and then printing the information. Most of this is done on Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. when our researchers are on duty. Our other days of operation are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Oklahoma City, OK - The condition of small grains and canola across Oklahoma continued to deteriorate under the protracted drought, according to the Oklahoma Crop Weather report issued today by USDA-NASS Oklahoma Field Office. Seventy percent of rye, 65 percent of canola and 61 percent of wheat were rated poor to very poor at the end of December.
