Alumni football games gaining ground

July 20, 2011

Orginizers have been working hard for a couple of months now to get the word out and getting guys signed up to play in High School Alumni Football games.  This proves to be an amazing opportunity former athletes to get to play full contact football again, as well as represent tradition, comradery, and their hometown.

The games have been postponed until the fall to give the teams a little more time to get signed up and for the games to build some traction, and excitement.  Over all 64 guys around the area have signed up.

Orginizers are reluctant to set a date for the games until there are enough sign ups (25 per team), but it will most likely be in October.  Which means that team meetings will most likely take place around the end of August.

Sign ups so far look like this: Antlers:1, Atoka-2, Checotah-7, Eufaula-17, Kingston-8, Madill-12, Sulphur-3 and Tishomingo-11.

Facebook pages have been created for all of the teams, and they are gaining friends quickly.  Facebook pages include: Lonegrove, Plainview, Dickson, Davis, Marietta and plans are to add Ada vs. Ardmore soon.

If you are interested in participating, or have questions, feel free to contact Melissa Manzelmann with Alumni Football USA at (512)-809-8765.
