Anglers fish Sardis tournament

August 18, 2011

Sardis Lake

Members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club held a bass tournament on August 13, at Sardis Lake. The temperature during the club’s last four bass tournaments had reached well above the one hundred-degree mark, but only reached into the upper nineties for this one. A welcomed change. The cooler temps, however, did not seem to make the bass want to bite anymore than when it was extremely hot. Only four anglers were able to catch two or more keeper bass.

Winning the tournament was Terry Thurman. Terry had a stringer weight of 8.66 pounds. Finishing in second place was Josh Cole. Josh only had one bass, but it was large enough at 4.95 pounds, to put him in second place and also to win the big bass of the tournament. Jon Tucker came in third with a stringer weight of 4.15 pounds.

The club’s next bass tournament will be held on August 27 on McGee Creek Lake. Launch site for the tournament will be at Buster Hights landing. Fishing times will be from "safe light" until 3:30 p.m.
