On Saturday, September 17, members of the Pushmataha County Sportsman Club concluded their 2011 bass tournament schedule with the Annual Top Ten Tournament. The tournament was held on Sardis Lake. The Top Ten Tournament allows the top ten anglers of the year to compete against each other in this final event. Those competing this year were Ellis Silvey, Billy Hensley, Terry Thurman, Judd Thomas, Billy Latham, Josh Cole, Mike Burrage, Jon Tucker, Dennis Willeford, and Kenny Briggs.

The fishing proved to be feast or famine for those competing. Those that were able to locate bass were able to catch quite a few. Others had difficulty in catching even small bass. Winning the tournament was Billy Hensley. Billy had a six fish limit that weighed 17.18 pounds. Judd Thomas took second place honors with a six fish limit that weighed 13.52 pounds. The big bass of the tournament was caught by Kenny Briggs. It weighed 3.49 pounds.

Club members are reminded that deer season is approaching fast and if they wish to enter the deer season contest for archery, primitive firearms or regular gun season, their entry fee must be paid before a season begins. Entry fees can be paid at Silvey’s Tax Service.

The club will not meet again until December 8. At this meeting, members will plan the bass tournament schedule for 2012.
