Antlers Cheerleader marches in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade

December 6, 2012

Marlee Williams, a Sr. at Antlers High School and daughter of David and Dorothy Williams, represented the cheerleading squad in the 2012 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City this year.

Marlee is co-captain of the Antlers High School Cheerleading Squad. Marlee was nominated to, and made, the All-American squad at Cheer Camp this past summer. Members of the All-American squad are eligible to be in the parade. There were over 700 girls representing cheerleading squads form all across the nation.

The Varsity Cheerleaders started the parade with a dance and then ended the parade walking along side of Santa’s Sleigh.

Some of the other activities the cheerleaders were able to do were a harbor cruise around the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan, attending a Broadway musical, seeing the Rocketts, spending the afternoon in Time Square and shopping in NYC. The girls were there from the Saturday before Thanksgiving and came home on Friday. The cheerleaders had to spend long hours practicing but the end performance was well worth it.
