After forecasters were predicting incoming winter weather, which contained a 90% chance of mixed precipitation throughout the state, many area residents were not expecting to see anything but rain on Christmas Day.
Much to our surprise, and the delight of some, a dusting of snow covered the area, leaving many to travel home in questionable weather conditions.
Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon you could slowly watch the incoming weather change as snow began to mix in with the steady rains we had experienced throughout the night. By 3:00 p.m. the rain and gave way to a fluffy snow, which continued to fall until around 8:00 p.m., later in some areas of the county.
Although most of the area didn’t receive the 2-4 inches that were anticipated for the area, residents got to once again experience a white Christmas.
Now, almost 5 days later, snow is still on the ground in areas around the county as we prepare for ice that is supposed to be heading our way early next week.
