On June 17, 2012, during the early morning hours, the personal vehicle of Antlers Police Officer Stewart Stanfield was found with the rear portion of the vehicle burned. On June 19, 2012, Antlers Chief of Police, Dewayne Morgan, requested OSBI assistance into this matter.
On June 29, 2012, OSBI Agent Steven Carter interviewed Jim Preston Rosson. During the interview Rosson stated that on June 16, 2012, he was approached by an Antlers Police Officer about â€śstalkingâ€ť a female at the Antlers Street Dance. Rosson stated he was angry due to the way he was treated by the officers.
After leaving the street dance, Rosson went to this residence and obtained a box with trash and newspapers. Rosson also obtained a lamp oil bottle and placed it inside the box. Rosson t hen walked to the Police Department and located what he remembered as a gray or blue car located in the alley between the Police Department and the Fire Department.
Rosson stated that he assumed the car was a police officerâ€™s vehicle and poured the lamp oil on the box of trash and newspaper and slid the box underneath the rear of the vehicle. Rosson then lit the box on fire and left the scene. Rosson returned to his residence on foot.
Rosson is being charged with Third Degree Arson, a felony. This crime is punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 or imprisonment for up to 15 years, or both.
Rossonâ€™s bond was set in t he amount of $25,000. His Preliminary hearing is set for July 11, 2012 at 9:30 a.m.
