A.V. Mills was born July 29, 1924 in Montague, TX, to Marvin and Dellie (Glass) Mills. He passed from this life January 18, 2013 in Tulsa, at the age of 88. A.V. served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, and later joined the United States Army to complete thirteen years of service. He married Margie Marie White on Labor Day Weekend, May 1949, in Ft. Worth, Texas. A.V. received his Bachelorâs Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University and then his Masters Degree from Texas A&M. He worked as a School Administrator, Teacher and Coach for thirty years of his teaching career, and had continued to substitute teach until age 85. A.V. attended the First Assembly of God church for the past 50 years and was actively involved with his wife. He raised cattle and enjoyed gardening. A.V.âs family was the most important thing to him and he loved spending time with them. A.V. was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Elizabeth Marie Mills in 1963; his parents, Marvin & Dellie Mills-Lackey; and a sister, Ruby Mills Nichols. He is survived by his wife, Margie of the home; one daughter, Susan Mills-Parker & husband Dr. Roger Parker of Afton; one granddaughter, Ches Ann Brewington of Tulsa; brothers, Edward William "Eddie" Mills & family of Lake Charles, LA, and Leroy Lackey of Deritter, LA; sisters, Geneva Gilbreath & family of Broken Bow, and Margie Lois Johnson & husband of Broken Bow; as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at First Assembly of God with Reverend Robert Weeks officiating. Music was âAmazing Graceâ, âLook For Meâ, & âTeardrops Will Never Stain The Streets Of That Cityâ, Performed by Larry & Loretta Gather. Pallbearers included Larry Nelson, Todd Scott, Wade Gee, Eric Wallace, John Wood, Mark Virden, Dwayne Shockey, & Monte Martin with Honorary Pallbearers as Dr. Ed Ellis, Bearl Payne, Joe Hill, Coy McCarty, Johnnie Mae Needham, Sidney Scott, Makenzie Scott, Andy Reed, Almurn Lawless, & Gene Vaughn.
