Bearcats & Lady Cats open season

After the Lady Cats finished their on Friday night, December 2, 2011, the Bearcats took the court to face off against the Wilburton Diggers. The Bearcats took the “W” with a final score of 51 to 39. The Antlers Varsity Basketball teams played their first three games of the season past week with the first game at home against the Talihina Golden Tigers, November 29, the second game was against the Atoka Wampus Cats, December 1, and the third game at home against the Wilburton Diggers, December 2. No stats were available for the Lady Cats game against the Tigers.

In their second game of the season, the girls took home a win against the Lady Wampus Cats with a final score of 54 to 50. A close game but the Lady Cats got it in the end. Senior-Railey Gardner had 14 points and shot 50 percent from the free throw line; Senior Taylor Tedder got a total of 8 points, 7 rebounds and shot 100 percent from the free throw line and Junior Megan Brame had 13 points with 3 rebounds and shot 90 percent from the free throw line.

In the girls game against the Wilburton Diggers the Lady Cats got another “W” in their record as they won the game 45 to 36. Senior Railey Gardner racked up a total of 15 points, had 2 assists and shot 81 percent from the free throw; Senior Hailey Garman had a total of 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and shot 66 percent from the free throw line and Junior Megan Brame scored a total of 5 points, 1 rebound, had 4 assists, and shot 75 percent from the free throw line.

The boys started off the season with their first game against the Golden Tigers and won it 54 to 28. Junior Bryce Martin racked up an amazing 27 points and had 9 rebounds; Junior Jakub Micien scored 13 points and had 6 rebounds and Senior Dakota Turner had 5 rebounds.

The Bearcats lost their second game against the Atoka Wampus Cats my only two points with a final score of 58 to 56. Junior Bryce Martin scored a total of 12 points, had 5 rebounds and shot 44 percent of his 3pt shots; Junior Jakub Micien racked up 12 points, had 6 rebounds and shot 50 percent from the free throw line and Junior Harlan House had 8 points, 1 rebound and shot 67 percent from the free throw line.

The third game of the week for the boys was against the Wilburton Diggers. They got their stride back and another “W.” Junior- Harlan House totaled 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and shot 67 percent from the free throw line; Junior Jakub Micien had 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Senior Caleb Smith scored a total of 11 points, 5 rebounds and shot 67 percent from free throw line.
