Last weekend our teams, coaches and fans traveled first to Muldrow, then Poteau for our 2011-2012 Regional play off games. Our Bearcats went into Regionals with one play off loss against them so one more loss would end their season.
In their first game the Bearcats took on the Salina Wildcats, who came into this game with a record of 8-12. Our leading scorer's for this game were Jr. Bryce Martin with 11 points 7 rebounds and shot 75% from the free-throw line, Jr. Jakub "Jimmy" Mician with 10 points and 5 rebounds, and Jr. Harlan House with 6 points.
The Bearcats were able to come out on top with a 44-33 victory which would send them into the second round of Regional play. In the this round we were facing the Spiro Bulldogs, who were coming into Regionals with a record of 14-7. This game's leading scorers were Jr. Bryce Martin with 19 points, Jr. Harlan House with 7 points, and Jr. Jakub "Jimmy" Mician with 6 points.
In the end Spiro just proved to be too much and they took this one home with a score of 65-47. This put our boys out of Regional play and ended their season with a record of 14-11. Congratulations guys on a season well played!!
In the LadyCats first game of Regional play, they too were facing the Salina Wildcats, who came into Regionals with a record of 16-4. Leading scorers of this game were Sr. Taylor Tedder with 9 points, Sr. Railey Beth Gardner also with 9 points, and Soph. Meagan Wilbourn with 8. Our Ladies were not able to pull this one out and lost with a score of 37-57.
In the second round our LadyCats were set to play the Eufaula Ironheads, who came into Regionals with a record of 14-4. Leading scorers were Sr. Railey Beth Gardner with 11 points, Sr. Taylor Tedder with 8 points and Sr. Hailey Garman with also with 8 points. Our Ladies won this second round play off game with a score of 39-49, which put them in the 3rd round.
In this game our LadyCats were facing the Keys Cougars, who's regular season record was 8-10. Leading scorers of this game Soph. Meagan Wilbourn with 8 points, Sr. Hailey Garman with 7 points, and Sr. Railey Beth Gardner with 5 points. This game would prove to come down to fouls and free-throws in the last period, in which Keys scored 18 points from free-throws alone giving them a victory over our LadyCats with a score of 55-37. This ended their season with a record of 15-11.
