September 29, 2011

Bearcats unable to contain the Tigers

On Friday night the lights were once again burning at Bearcat Stadium as the Antlers Bearcats took to the field against the Talihina Golden Tigers. During the first quarter it was clear what type of game it was going to be as the Tigers put up a total of 16 points with little effort.

The second quarter was much of the same as the Tigers continued to rack up more points against the Bearcats. With 7:04 minutes left in the first half the Tigers scored again and brought their lead to a total of 22. And the end of the second half, with no more points scored by the Tigers, the scores were Talihina Golden Tigers 22, Antlers Bearcats 0.

The Bearcats had a hard time this week against a very good team. With many missed, bobbled and dropped passes the defense had their work cut out for them as they tried to keep up. All in all t he Bearcats gave the game all they had but in the end the Tigers were just too much for them.

By the end of the third quarter the Tigers had expanded the point spread to 41 to 0 over the Bearcats but it wasn’t over yet. In the first few minutes of the forth quarter, the Bearcats ran one down the home sideline straight into the end zone for their only touchdown, and points of t he game as they missed their extra point attempt. The game ended with a final score of Talihina 41, Antlers 6.

This week the Bearcats will be on the road as they travel to take on the Konawa Tigers in their first district game of the year.
