Betty E. Vandiver

Betty Ethel Vandiver was born on November 1, 1922 in Yukon to Horace Herman Park and Etta Jane (Howell) Parks. She passed from this life on Sunday, September 9, 2012 in Hugo at the age of 89. Betty married Grady Roe Vandiver in 1942 in Claremore. She was a homemaker and a member of the Antlers Methodist Church and the Eastern Star in Antlers. Betty lived on a ranch near Antlers for many years helping outdoors. After her husband’s death, she moved to Atoka and later to Hugo where she lived for several years. She sold Shakley Product’s in Atoka and Hugo before opening Nature;’s Best Health food Store in Hugo. Betty enjoyed camping, the outdoors and taking drives in the fall to the mountains. She also enjoyed playing with her pet dog, Marmaduke, a Great Dane. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Grady Roe Vandiver in 1973 and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Arby Minchew of Hugo; one son, Grady R. Vandiver Jr. and wife Juanita of Sand Springs; one granddaughter, Melissa Weaver and husband, Tim, of Sand Springs; one great-granddaughter, Shelby Weaver of Sand Springs; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo with Rev. Phil Beatty officiating.
