Dan Brown
Dan Brown, 88, passed from this life August 29, 2010 in McAlester. He was born May 17, 1922 in Tenkiller, to Tom and Minnie (Hamilton) Brown. Dan served his country in the US Army during World War II.  He married Nadine Standridge on December 24, 1945 in Paris, TX & together they had eight children.  They were married for 63 years before her passing in 2008.  Dan was a member of Finley Baptist Church.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing Moon, cards, fishing, and his horse, Blaze. Dan was preceded in death by his wife:  Nadine Brown; a son:  Donald Ray Brown; two daughters:  Dora Mae Brown and Marcia Ann Brown; parents:  Tom and Minnie Hamilton Brown; brothers:  Sam, Arvelle, & T. J. Brown; sisters:  Mary, Thelma, & Lola Mae. He is survived by his children:  Melinda Dillishaw of McAlester, Malvin Brown of Hobbs, NM, Vickie Brown of Tucumcari, NM, John T. Brown of Jackson, MS, & Saundra Morehead of Finley; grandchildren:  Julie Young, Meredith Head, Taylor Morehead, Dustin Morehead, Toni Brown, & Danielle Brown; nine great-grandchildren; sisters:  Gladys Cranford of Sherman, TX and Loy Painter of Oklahoma; as well as many other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Finley Cemetery in Finley with Reverend Andy Reed officiating. Musical selections will include: "Faded Love", "I Can Only Imagine" and "I'll Fly Away". Family and friends may send online condolences at www.millscoffey.com.

Denver Boise “Dennis” Goswick, Jr.
Denver Boise “Dennis” Goswick, Jr., 53, passed from this life on August 4, 2010 at his home in Sonora, CA. He was born January 25, 1957 in San Mateo, CA to Tennie B. (Karr) McKinney Goswick and Denver Boise Goswick, Sr. He graduated from Peninsula High School in San Bruno, CA and worked as a Welder, Hydraulics Operator and as a Foreman for several tree service companies. Dennis married Denyse Duncan on January 25, 2003 in Sonora, CA. He loved music, especially Elvis Presley, and spending time on the farm with his grandfather John W. Karr. He also loved spending time with his nieces & nephews, taking and collecting pictures of them. Dennis was a martial arts master with many collections of oriental artifacts. He loved his two dogs: Duncan and Shilo, who were his constant companions during his recent illness. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents: Denver B. and Tennie B. Goswick; grandparents: John W. and Georgia (Pool) Karr, A.J. and Cora (Boyd) Goswick; and one brother: Terry Lee Goswick. He is survived by his wife: Denyse Goswick, of the home in Sonora, CA; brothers: Milton ‘Greg’ McKinney of Antlers, Donald Thomas ‘Pete’ McKinney of Weleetka, James Clay Goswick of Finley; sisters: Barbara Allene McKinney Hendrix of Waleetka, and Tennett Marie McKinney Entz of Gig Harbor, WA; 10 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews; many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Finley Community Center. Interment will follow at the Finley Cemetery in Finley.

Modell (Duncan-Grogan)  Dunham
Modell (Duncan-Grogan) Dunham, 81, passed from this life August 28, 2010 in Norman. She was born May 2, 1929 in Rattan, to Albert and Ella (Powell) Duncan. Modell was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rattan. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, fishing and “talking”.  She was married to Jack W. Grogan, December 4, 1948. She accompanied him overseas and in the U.S. for fifteen years until his retirement from the Air Force in 1963. Jack preceded her in death in 1970. Modell received her BA degree from Southeastern College in Durant and her MA in Education at Commerce A&M in Commerce, TX. She taught for 13 years in Leonard, TX and then returned to Rattan where she taught for an additional 16 years.  She was a member of OSTA, OEA and Retired Teachers Association. Modell was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands Jack W. Grogan and William Dunham; two sisters: a twin, Mozell and husband Howard Moore; Thora Lee and husband Bud Young; two brothers: Lowell Duncan and wife Blanche; Edison Duncan; and companion and best friend Joe Lane. She is survived by three daughters: Lavonna and husband Jim Beene of Norman; Roberta and husband Eddie Brister of Commerce, TX; and Jackie Evans of Noble; Six grandchildren: Mark Evans; Dayna and husband David Corona; Paul Brister and wife Krisha; Aaron Brister and wife Kelley; Brad Beene and wife Julia; and Brittany Beene; six great grandchildren: Joshua Corona, Caleb Corona, Jett Brister, Kyla Brister, Jase Corona and Andrew Brister; one sister-in-law Lee Ann Duncan; one cousin who was like a brother, Joe Tom Powell and wife Linda; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm on Monday, August 30, 2010 at Rattan First Baptist Church in Rattan with Reverend Timothy Marr officiating. Musical selections included: “It Is Well With My Soul”, “Serenaded By Angels”, “Roses Will Bloom Again”, “I’ll Fly Away” performed by Church Choir. Pallbearers included: Robert Bradley Bean, Paul Brister, Aaron Brister, David Corona, Mark Evans and Tommy Moore. Honorary pallbearers included: Leo Smallwood, Bruce Lawless, Zen Gee Nancy & Curtis Rose, Benda & Mike Wood, Loyd & Kay Deaton, Joy Smith and Mary Stewart. Interment followed at the Dela Cemetery in Antlers, Oklahoma. Family and friends may send online condolences at www.millscoffey.com.

Roger Leon Alexander
Roger Leon Alexander, 59, passed from this life August 27, 2010 in Antlers. He was born January 1, 1951 in Martinez, CA to Russell and Mary (Pace) Alexander. Roger married Linda Lou Henderson on December 23, 1977 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Antlers. Together they raised four children. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting with friends and family. He loved his grandkids and he never met a stranger. Roger enjoyed helping loggers fix their trucks and his cb handle was Blackbird. Roger was preceded in death by his father:  Russell Alexander; one grandchild; paternal grandparents:  Henry & Beulah Alexander; maternal grandparents:  Henry & Jessie Pace. He is survived by his wife:  Linda Alexander and mother-in-law Earla Henderson of Antlers; mother:  Mary Pace of Antlers; four children:  Bessie Bailey of DeQeen, AR, Nina Bailey of DeQueen, AR, Elvie Allen of DeQueen, AR, and Carla Amend of Soper; six grandchildren; one great grandson; one great grandaughter; brothers and sisters:  Rickey Alexander & wife Micky of Hot Springs, AR, Jacque Compton & husband Bob of Broken Bow, Ginger Johnson & husband Jesse of Antlers, Steve Alexander & wife Marilyn of Antlers, and Gary Wayne Alexander of San Adreas, CA; paternal uncles:  Charles Alexander & wife Janice of Clayton, and Larry Alexander & wife Regina of Mc Alester; paternal aunts:  Florence Ben of Snow and Ruby Wheeler of Finley; maternal aunt:  Ida Belle Scrogum of Seymour, TX; numerous cousins, nieces, & nephews; as well as many other relatives and bundles of friends. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Finley Community Center in Finley. In Lieu of Flowers the family asks that donations be made to OK Medical Research or Finley Cemetery Fund in care of Don Helm Box 64 Finley, Oklahoma. Glenna Allen
Glenna Allen, 89, passed from this life August 28, 2010 in Dallas, TX. She was born May 5, 1921 in Allen, Oklahoma to Fred and Edith (Lewis) Gibson. Glenna lived in this area for 50 years after marrying William E. Allen on October 17, 1942 in Norman. Together they raised three children. She enjoyed fishing, reading Louis LaMour books, and spending time with her family and friends. Glenna was preceded in death by her parents:  Fred and Edith Gibson; and a sister:  Freda Gillen. She is survived by her husband of 68 years:  William E. Allen of Antlers; three sons:  Bill Allen & wife Sue of Denton, TX, John Allen & wife Gee Gee of Dallas, TX, Richard Allen of California; five grandchildren:  Ed Allen & wife Kerry, Greg Allen & wife Angel, Jennie Dodd & husband Jeremy, Kristie Berryman & husband Jeff, Katie Ramirez & husband Harley; 15 great grandchildren:  Kelsey, Tanner, Will, Tucker, Kylie, Katelyn, Tate, Bronson, Stockton, Riley, Aurora, Jackson, Lucy, Noah, Jake; a brother:  Mike Gibson & wife Gail of Bakersfield, CA; two sisters:  Jan McCoy & husband Burl of Merkel, TX and Doris & husband Al Morris of Richmond, KY;  as well as many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Antlers with Eddie Allen officiating. Musical selections will include: congregational music led by Burl McCoy. Interment will follow at the Antlers City Cemetery in Antlers.
