Child molestation accusations surface in child porn case

July 14, 2011

Details attached to the three counts of juvenile pornography that Ronald V. Frey, a 41 year-old man from Antlers, is being charged with have recently be released.

According to officer statements, affidavit of probable cause, on March 28, 2011 Office Jake Merck was contacted by DHS alleging that Frey had molested his 16 year-old niece who has a low IQ. Officer Merck contacted the child’s mother the following day and requested that she come to the police department so that they could discuss the report that he had received.

The child’s mother arrived at the police station with a woman, who lives with Frey. Both women told officers that the child had told them that Frey had touched her breast and genital area while they were on a trip to Amarillo, TX. to pick up his children for the weekend. Once this information was brought to the officer’s attention he informed them that they would probably have to contact the police department in Texas where the incident occurred.

They women then went on to inform officers that the woman’s other daughter, who is also 16 years-old and has a low IQ, had also told them that Frey had done the same thing to her while at their residence in Antlers. That is when the woman who lives with Frey told officers that she had found some child porn on his computer.

On March 31, 2011 Chief Morgan and Officer Merck went to Frey’s residence. Frey
invited the officers in, he was read his Miranda Warning and was asked permission to search his computer for child pornography. Frey agreed and signed a Consent to Search Form.

Officers found several files and sub-files that contained porn and animated porn and some files that were labeled teen porn and adult porn. They also found a lot of pictures that contained nude females, some of which were labeled as teen. Since the officers had no way of determining the ages of the females in the videos and photos, the officers asked Frey if they could take his computer and send it to an OSBI Agent to investigate and Frey gave them permission and the password to the computer.

Officers also questioned Frey about the allegations that the two 16 year-old juveniles had made against him. Frey admitted to touching the girls breasts and genital area’s on a few occasions but said that it was under their consent and they did not ask him to stop. Officers asked him if he felt that it was alright for him to touch 16 year-old girls like that and he said that 16 year-olds can consent. Officers then asked if he was aware of the IQ levels of the girls and he said that they are smarter than people think.

On April 12, 2011 Officers had the mother and girls meet them at the C/Sara Foundation in Ardmore so that the girls could be interviewed by a forensic interviewer. During the interviews, which were conducted separately, both girls told the interviewer the same series of events that they had previously told officers. The girls were then asked if they said anything to Frey when he touched them. Both girls said they told him to stop.

On May 12, 2011 Officer Merck obtained a search warrant to have Frey’s computer examined by a forensic examiner and investigator with the Computer Crimes Unit of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations (OSBI) in Tulsa.

On June 27, 2011 Officer Merck evidence from Special Agent Sonny Stewart, Frey’s computer along with a report and three DVDs from Special Agent Danny Mouttet. In Mouttet’s report he stated that he had found three video’s with images of nude of partially clothed children engaged in sexual acts or provocatively posed. During the same day, Officer Merck mailed one of the DVD’s to Inspector Linda Jenson with the USPIS/NCMEC to see if the children in the videos could be identified.

Frey is scheduled to go in front of Judge Jana Wallace on July 27, 2011 for his preliminary hearing.
