January 10, 2013

The Pushmataha County Commissioners have received confirmation from the ACCO (Association of County Commissioners of Oklahoma) Board of Directors that the application which they submitted for the STP (Surface Transportation Program) Project selection list for 2017, category 2, has been approved. The final decision was made on December 12, 2012.

Pushmataha County’s application was ranked 1st of the 13 who applied, which only 6 of them were approved for funding.

In 2017, Pushmataha County will receive 80% federal funding for the resurfacing of Airport Road, with a 20% fund match being made by the county. Federal funds will total $500,000.00, with the counties portion being $125,000.00; for a total project total of $625,000.00.

Whatever funds are not needed to complete the project will return to the county.

“I don’t know if I will be around in 2017 to see the project complete,” said Michael Brittingham, County Commissioner of District 1 “but I am glad we got approved for the funding for this project.”

Brittingham went on to say he hopes to still be serving the county (in office) when the money becomes available.
